LSU @ The Rose Bowl

A massive bucket list item for me will be to travel with our Tigers playing in the Grand Daddy of Them All, the Rose Bowl.
Realistically, our boys have a shot THIS year as the CFP semi-final sites are the Rose Bowl & the Sugar Bowl. The next best chance will be in the 2023/2024 season.
[For those that don't know-the CFP semi-final sites are set to rotate between the big 6 sites of Rose, Fiesta, Cotton, Sugar, Peach, & Orange through 2025/2026. Due to the stubbornness of the Rose Bowm committee, the Rose Bowl will NOT host the CFP National Championship again in the foreseeable future due to its NYD parade/prominence/tradition]
So, unless a freaky bowl tie-in mix-up happens with the Top 4 in the next 5-6 seasons that opens up an extremely rare opportunity for a SEC team to head west, we have these 2 opportunities for LSU in Pasadena.
Given the pairings of Rose + Sugar each time for the semis, LSU would have to be the lower seed to be forced out of NOLA & another defacto CFP home game, right?
Man o man, what I wouldn't give to see our Tigers playing in that historic stadium in a play-off game. Wow.

Too early for this but points for having a dream

Lsu will be playing in The Rose Bowl against UCLA in September of 2021.

Yes, thank you. I meant to include this in the OP. But I am more focused on it being a Rose Bowl NYD thing.
That said, I am now transferring money to a to be created 2021 LSU @ UCLA savings account for tickets, airbnb, & flight.

If LSU is the #1, it will be Sugar. If #4 it will be Rose.
It depends on who the #1 and #4 are if LSU is #2 or #3.
The committee will select so as to create the biggest advantage for the #1 seed.

Just put this on my bucket list as I live in NorCal! We'll be there. The Fiesta Bowl was a dream come true and definitely a bucket list check-off!

Yes playing in the stadium but not the actual Rose bowl game

Why would that matter? The associated bowl game and the National title game are two separate things. Why can’t they run the Rose as scheduled on NYD then host the title game on its schedule day a week or so later?

From what I've read over the years of the CFP & heard on various radio & tv reports is that the Rose Bowl Committee simply sees their Rose Bowl as THE bowl & their parade/party. They will handle thay day & that day only & no one else has a say, in their opinion. And NYD is the day it is played, semi-final or not. They have no interest in hosting 2 bowl games, like the other 5 rotating spots do. As I understand it, they didn't even bid to HOST the title games thru 2024.
The next title game host spots are:
2020
Jan 11, 2021 Miami
2021
Jan 10, 2022 Indy
2022
Jan 9, 2023 L.A. (New Rams stadium)
2023
Jan 8, 2024 Houston
2024
Jan 6, 2025 TBD
2025
Jan 5, 2026 TBD

In 2006 we were on the verge of going before USC crapped the bed. I was lining up tickets and travel arrangements. I was depressed when we got moved to the Sugar bowl. We did thump ND good. That was fun to watch.
I agree a Rose Bowl game would be so cool!

WAFB reported it as a done deal!

I thought it was after the 2003 season we were slated for the Rose Bowl until we won the SECCG and got ourselves into the BCSNCG.

If you want to see LSU play in the Rose Bowl stadium in your lifetime, plan on the early September, 2021 trip to see the Tigers play UCLA.

That's still around? I thought Carville blew it up.

I’d love it simply for the culture clash.....

I would bet that LSU would buy up at least 40% of the stadium's available tickets via direct & secondary markets. I don't think Pasadena will be ready for the invasion.

Somebody needs to remind them to get extra beer!

At the end of the season, it looked like the BCSCG would be a rematch between Michigan and tOSU, since many people considered them the two best teams in the country. UF would play in the Sugar Bowl and thus LSU was a cinch for the Rose Bowl.
Cool heads prevailed and the AP voters decided there was no reason for the Buckeyes to have to beat Michigan twice in a season, so Florida got the bid to the BCSCG against Ohio State, Michigan got the Rose Bowl and LSU was sent as the SEC rep to the Sugar Bowl.
