So you’re basically George Clooney’s character in Up In The Air?

Does DL only do this for diamond or platinum? I'm gold and haven't gotten anything, curious to see how much I did last year

They were supposed to send out information on rollover for all levels. May take time since they had the screw up where they sent information to the wrong group of people

Ahh that makes more sense, i'll be on the lookout

Yea a lot of people who never earned Silver status were sent a "congratulations on gold status" and Delta had to correct that by giving them gold. Some Gold members received platinum even though they never earned it. I tweeted Delta asking for Silver
I fell 5k miles short and 8k spending.

This was the first year in 5 years that I didn't make Diamond on DL.
I flew British Airways exclusively last year because it saved 4 to 8 hours of travel time for me because of direct flights in/out of Austin. I did make Gold on BA.
I'm back to DL this year though because I miss the better customer service, both on the plane and on the phone.

The difference was so stark that you're giving up direct flights for better customer service?
I'm not a big fan of BA but that seems like a huge consideration. That said I'm only a frequent recreational/occasional business traveler rather than an every week business traveler (plus I'm Atlanta based), so perhaps connections aren't as dreaded from your perspective.

Yes, all of my travel is International, and I pretty much always fly Business class.
On long flights, and last-minute changes to flights -- like going from India to Asia-Pac regions (or vice versa), Delta is just so much easier to deal with. And to be fair, it isn't really Direct routes... before, BA eliminated a leg. Now there are more direct international routes out of AUS with DL -- so it offers the convenience that BA offered, but with better service.
Also, I don't like the BA business class configuration, where you can be face to face with the person next to you.

5k miles and 8k short of what status? That's a really strange combination.

Silver, I had 19k+ flight miles and spent only 14k on my card over the past year.
Was further with my segments and very close on my MQD's which ties back into my card spending

All of mine was domestic. I would love to have some international travel.

Multiple years of diamond status flying domestic only is quite a feat. That's a lot of legs. Much more of a grind than doing it on long international hauls.

Crazy part is I didn’t take a flight after the first week in November.

First year in several that I won't have squat with United, but I'm very grateful of it. Had a child born in February and was able to limit travel in 2019.
