How does the spread system he helped install at LSU translate to the NFL?

"In a way, you are almost limited at the college level with the amount of time you can have with your players. Now I can expand upon that package and hone in on some new things that we didn't have an opportunity to get to. But from an offensive structure standpoint, yes, that all can translate. We'll put together a system as a staff and I'm excited to see the end result."

quote:

The Tigers offense had a lot of talent and a lot of fun tearing through defenses. How important is it to him that his players bring that energy and passion to the field?

"I think it's everything. The big thing we used at LSU was 'everybody eats.' Everybody needs to understand they have a vital role to our success. Football is a game and we all need to have fun playing it. I know it's a business, but if you are not having fun, you are just there. I wanted my guys – especially the receiver units – to make plays and have fun playing a game. It doesn't have to be more than it needs to be. And when we get in the end zone, we're going to have a lot of fun doing it. When the guys believe in the system and the approach, that's when you see the results."

quote:

Any messages from Heisman-winning quarterback Joe Burrow since taking the job?

"I have heard from Joe Burrow. To sum it up, he said he appreciated me. I'll keep it at that (laughs)."

Brady was always destined to get back to the NFL, just a pure football guy. good luck to him.

Panthers go all in on Burrow, and trade up to the number 1 spot. Run the Saints offense against the Saints, next year.

Carolina is definitely going to need to improve its wide receiver talent to come close to approaching what LSU did this year.

Would be sweet. Could use Mcaff like Clyde was used this year... would be potent

I have never had less ill will towards a guy that left our program. He even said a few days prior to the game that he was coming back knowing that he wasn't and I hold zero animosity for that. I actually think it was the right thing for him to say at the time so that our players stayed focused.

I hate that he is in the NFC South but I wish him well in the other 14 games every year.

this feels like a stupid hire for Carolina, no disrespect to Brady.

I want to like the kid. I want to appreciate that he was here.

But honestly, I still feel like saying "frick him, without a more experienced voice metering his aggression he's gonna flop."

But how can you fault him for leaving? The NFL was always his goal and his stock would never be higher.

What if it turns out the Burrow had more to do with the success than Brady and he comes back and our offense doesn't look quite as elite next year? Then he doesn't get the opportunity that he got this year. I hate it for LSU but Brady made the right call.

downvote me if you want, but hiring a 30 year old guy who was fetching coffee for Sean Payton a year ago and had some unknown level of influence on playcalling at LSU to be the OC for your young HC who has experience as a pro o-line coach doesn't seem smart.

also, you don't get to have waves of elite talent at every position in the pros like you do at LSU.

not being as good on offense next year is the most obvious thing ever.

you also don't have to cater to teenagers, or be under NCAA restrictions regarding practice time, etc. brady said it himself, there's still alot of concepts of his offense that he wants to implement fully. now he gets that chance.

it's a boom or bust hire for Carolina.

I actually like it alot for them, what do they have to lose?

you are in a division with the saints, and you need to keep pace with that offense.

I never said it was a smart move by Carolina. I too was surprised people were so willing to pay a guy that never had full time play calling duties but it was definitely a smart move on Brady's part.

Same. It makes me wonder though. Was the whole "Brady signed new contract with LSU" a ruse by him and LSU to not create a distraction to the team? He knew he was going to Carolina at that time, so why waste LSU's time in getting a contract together that he knows won't mean anything.

At the NFL level, everyone is "elite-ish" at their respective position. They wouldnt be getting paid if they weren't.

Im really curious to see how this turns out. I think the NFL is moving more to the College model if that makes any sense. There is less and less time to actually practice and get better so the onus these days is really on having a system that is easy enough to pick up quickly with interchangeable parts.

Any LSU fans bitter about Brady leaving, after the glorious year he helped create for us, need to go check themselves.

Say what? Every year Nfl teams bring in elite talant to add to the elite talant they got the year before and the year before that and the year before that....

Every player on an NFL team was elite in college.

Christian McCaffrey better sharpen up his pass-catching skills. He'll need them.

Oh well Brady is the enemy now. I appreciate everything he did at LSU but he’s now a rival of the Saints.
