Is this an NCAA thing or an LSU thing?

Your own link answers your question. It belongs to LSU.

He's brought in way more revenue this year to LSU and Louisiana than that ball will ever be worth. Let him keep it.

The exchange between Burrow and the referee was hilarious... and the referee basically shrugged his shoulders and let Burrow tuck the ball and walk off the field.

I doubt this is a big issue for Burrow, but if he wants to keep it, LSU should not by any means get in the way of that, given all he's done.

This always bugs me. There are no less than 4-12 "game balls" used throughout the course of a game like this. Just because the last snap involved this particular ball doesn't meant the other 3-11 balls aren't "championship" or "game" balls.

My immediate inclination is thst he was giving g it to ensminger.

He didn’t know about the crash until after the OU game was over.

If they actually sold it I'd be furious. Joe would be the only individual I'd even be close to ok with keeping it.

Obligatory, "it belongs in a museum!"

Any bets on if the ball Joey returns is the one he walked off the field with?

I will bet no and no one will know.

Nope. It stays at LSU for fans to view forever with the Championship Trophy, the Heisman Trophy, etc. You do realize LSU has Warren Morris's 1996 Walk-Off CWS Game-Winning bat on display at the LSU athletics museum?
