I said before that he could stay here a few more seasons, make solid coin, be adored and slay all the co-ed pussy he could want.

But, he's also NEVER going to be as hot a commodity as he is right now and if the NFL is his goal, it makes sense.

Be happy for him and thankful for what he did while he was here.

they paid the former Baylor coach like 7 million right. I bet Brady got 2 million plus. We also knew Brady wanted to be in the NFL.

Man, imagine being 29 again and someone approaches you with 2/3M a year to coach in the NFL and not have to spend the year recruiting 16-18 year olds

I’m sure everyone would say no, right?

I’m happy for him. Personally being a head coach in any profession sounds fricking miserable.

I agree 100% with your post. He is the Boyles award winner, natty coach, and the Hot guy. Good luck to him and thank you for everything JB.

Hope he is successful, if not I’m sure he would be welcomed back. Just hope he doesn’t Come back to a rival.

NFL > NCAA

If that is his goal then he should go. He just helped LSU win a national championship. I’m not sure if his stock will ever be higher.

Sucks to see him go but congratulations to him.

He seems content. He singled out his GF (fiancé?) at his Broyles Awards speech. Quality catch. He definitely out-kicked his coverage.

You do realize a large part of the college job is talking to 16 year olds for multiple hours a day, right?

You're saying as a 30 year old College Quarterbacks Coach you wouldn't take a job offer to be an NFL Offensive Coordinator? Even if he bombs, he's 20 years younger than his peer group and has plenty of time to correct mistakes.

This kind of job offer usually takes years of grinding in the pros, bouncing around from team to team before finally getting your shot under a lame duck coach.

This is just a lie.

Nfl coordinators work WAY less hours and have WAY less stress.

He came into the college game for 1 year, and was an integral reason that LSU broke almost every offensive record imaginable. He could coach another 50 years of college and never replicate that season again.

Money, aside, it's about what makes him happy, college or NFL?

If for some reason he decided to go back to college, schools would line up to hire him, INCLUDING LSU. I hope if that happens he gives LSU first chance!

He's been there before I'm sure he knows exactly what it entails, that's where he wants to be

You wouldn’t stay for a million a year difference in pay? And the fact you don’t have to talk to 17-18 year olds four hours a day?

If the money is equal the NFL is a better gig. You just have to coach football and not worry about anything else.

And if the offense doesn’t meet expectations next year, which it likely won’t. “He’s a fricking idiot” “it was all Burrow”

You don’t know LSU fans?

Inherently most humans, especially us in the western culture, have a much greater fear of losing something than of not gaining something. Call it fear of unknown or bird-in-hand theory.

One exception to that in my experience is coaches. Loyalty has nothing to do with it. Coaches, no matter what their coaching philosophy is, overwhelming see change in scenery as always progress or always gaining something.

Yes there are some like Venables who don't see it that way because of some motivation (comfort level?). And there are some like Orgeron who got bit like at Ole Miss that frankly he was lucky to recover from. But those are the exceptions to the rule.

Even if Brady didn't see the NFL as a step above, which he did, but even if he didn't is not an exception to that phenomenon. Movement = Gain = Progress to the majority of coaches until they reach a certain stature (not age, stature).
