Well, if he asks the question on the Poli Board. The answer won't change.

Others have touched on it, but we are extremely interested in space. But not the interest you are thinking. We realize now transporting humans in space isnt feasible. So mapping/probe exploration is huge. The next step will be mining and making earth one huge national park. Cant wait.

OP I disagree with your assessment, there’s lots of interest in space.

At least some of the drop off probably coincided with the discontinuation of the shuttle program.

That's all I got.

And if that is not enough science fiction concerning space, there's always "Ancient Aliens" on the History Channel.

Just scrolling through my Netflix recommendations and new releases shows me your premise of Americans losing interest in space science fiction is completely wrong.

They started one in like the 60's at the latest. The public just doesn't know about it.

So, who here thinks we went to the moon 50 years ago and decided to give up the greatest strategic advantage ever?

We’re there. I guarantee it.

Seems like there was a huge peak of science fiction in the 1950s.

Legit scares though, seems horror was combined or associated with that genre back then.

and will be again, if we are invaded by superior tech aliens.

We are the Aztecs.
ET are the conquistadors.
We are the Incas.
ET are the conquerors.

The Quechuan family of five languages has features the other earth world languages do not.
The conquerors did not learn it.

Getting people into space is just too damn hard. The gravity, the oxygen, the radiation, the distance...too complicated
