Why have Americans lost interest in space!

I was never interested in anything set in space until I experienced Mass Effect and Guardians of the Galaxy at the recommendation of a friend. Those led me to masterpieces such as Babylon 5 and Battlestar Galactica!

I think Captain John J. Sheridan is an all American hero!

I found out in the 90s up to the early 2000s we had TV shows set in space! Multiple Star Treks, Babylon 5, Space: Above & Beyond, Farscape, Battlestar Galactica, and Firefly!

Ever since Battlestar Galactica ended it seems like space hasn't been as big in our culture as it was in the 90s!

What happened?

Was it the recession? After all there was no money for the space shuttle!

Not sure why you think there is no interest in space. Public and private entities are still very interested in space travel and there are a lot of plans in the mix going forward.

Im sure it's easy to think this on the surface, but I think it's far from the truth. Every time SpaceX does anything, it's livestreamed and watched by millions.

Star Wars movies and shows being pumped out every 6 months

And numerous other movies and TV series about space

And physics documentaries about the universe

And more importantly the actual investments being made in space exploration

The first astronauts were square jawed, heroic test pilots. Now they're mostly nerds.

Nobody's the least bit curious whose alter's only post is babbling about Sci Fi shows and naming his favorite character who he stole his handle from?

Great first post. It would be even better if it were your last.

Seems like there was a huge peak of science fiction in the 1950s.

Legit scares though, seems horror was combined or associated with that genre back then.

Lack of alien tits.

That and we know if we colonize space we are just going to frick it up too.

Can't wait to step out of a Mars rover dune buggy and have to step over a dirty diaper some a-hole tossed on the ground like it's a 7/11 parking lot.

I think Americans are interested in space but not interested enough to throw more money into exploration. It is extremely costly to go into space and even more costly to take humans there. I would love to cut out some funding into wasteful social programs and give it to NASA and even the private sector.

Rise of low iq culture. Lack of funding due to people who are against it due to cost(right) or would like to spend it on social programs(left). Hopefully the private sector can make it happen.

A skinny little on the down low Muslim fig named Obama happened.

He canceled our space flights and attempted to turn our space agency into a Muslim outreach.

NASA chief says agency's goal is Muslim outreach, forgets to mention space
