What? Payton and Orgeron are friends professionally and personally. Orgeron and Ensminger went to Payton last year about how to open up the offense and what it would take....Payton had Brady to go in there to consult on RPO and how to implement the Saints offense.....look at the formations its all Saints (3 receiver bunch formations- utilization of TE and effective use of the screen). Orgeron offered Brady a contract after Payton and Carmichael gave their blessing.

I think Payton meant the exact opposite. As in he knew his guy had NFL potential and worried that that potential might be wasted as the passing game coordinator for a college team that (historically) wasn’t interested in passing. It was O he underestimated, not Joe Brady. That’s why the very next line congratulated O, not Joe Brady.

Yup. Him and Brees. Easily the two biggest assholes in the league.

Amen. This state only has room for one team. The saints can take a back seat.

What a jackass.

You clearly are expressing an existing bias, rather than analyzing what he said. He was self-deprecating and complimentary of Brady, Coach O, and the entire LSU team and coaching staff.

Well coaching isn't similar to everywhere, and if I respect the person I have no issues listening to that feedback. I actually seeked it from my boss on my last offer

That's what I'm saying. You sought it out and he gave you that feedback. I respect that.

I'm saying it's a dick move to tell someone they're making a mistake for a decision they've already made. If it's truly a mistake, the person can make that judgement for themselves and learn from it. The ink is already dry. At that point, telling someone they've made a mistake serves no purpose other than being a dick. Just wish them luck, and tell them that you hope it works out.

With the history of LSU’s previous offense, he proably did think he was making a mistake.

f someone has already made their decision, it's a pretty jackass thing to tell them that they're making a mistake, whether they are or not.

No, it's pretty jackass to sit there and lie to them if you believe they are making a mistake. You do not have to be a dick about the way you say it... and if you were wrong then you admit it.

Not sure why telling someone what you believe is the truth is so damn wrong... you can still be supportive and help someone even if you believe they made the wrong choice.

Peyton didn't want to lose him either. That's what I get from this. He knew he had a young talent and he didn't want him to leave.

An employer should congratulate and be positive about Joe’s opportunity to advance.

I’m paraphrasing here, but Joe Brady said while with the Saints, he would call every play in his head.

He knew he would never have a chance to call plays for the Saints because he was behind Payton and Carmichael.

Joe Brady had enough confidence in himself to know given the opportunity he would be successful.

Now that is funny, but I like a man that can laugh at himself.
