Guess the whole coaching staff and team has been informed to lie to the media about who is calling the plays.

E was in no shape to call plays.

I’m not offended it’s just inaccurate. He’s the passing game coordinator, brought great offensive concepts to LSU and deserves the Broyles award. But he isn’t the OC and doesn’t call plays. I’d have a similar position if you tried to call him the head coach or the defensive coordinator.

Look, Brady (and Burrows development) have been the crux of this unprecedented run imho, but to make moronic statements with ZERO substance needs to be called out.
if O trusted Ensminger to create this offense, he wouldn't have hired Brady.
your excuses justify not being playing well against good defenses but not against Southeastern and arky.
quote:
get that you are a "Les" man
stating objective facts about miles' tenure isnt being a "miles guy". it's called reality.
quote:
hate all things Orgeron
that's why I have done nothing but heap praise upon O for this year's accomplishments
quote:
but it is obviously clouding your memory of what was LSU 2018.
basically the same players as this year with a vastly inferior scheme.
quote:
Orgeron said he went to Ensminger in the offseason and said, “We’ve got to go to the spread. He said, ‘I agree. Let’s get somebody who knows it and let them put it in.’
it's crazy to think someone is calling plays in a scheme that they dont know.
O was asked point blank.." who calls the plays?" his initial answer was Brady and then a week later changed it to fit a narrative.
either O doesnt know who is calling offensive plays or he changed his answer to fit a narrative.
it can only be one of those 2

I thought the scariest play caller we faced this year was Dan Mullen.

All the wishcasting in the world won’t change that.
quote:
Orgeron said Monday that Brady will be with Ensminger in LSU’s booth in the press box. “Steve’s going to call the plays, Joe is going to have the next play ready. If Steve wants it, he takes it.”

I feel like there’s a difference between teaching an offensive scheme and being able to read defenses, anticipate formations, finding weaknesses, and actually calling the plays.

so you're saying O didnt know who called the plays?

I’m saying that Steve Ensminger is the OC and is the play caller. Brady suggests plays and Ensminger either goes with that call or another call. All of the players and coaches have confirmed that is the setup. You can either accept reality or not.

Play calling does not get you anywhere if you don't have the weapons to execute it
Wrong.
You can have all the weapons in the world but if you don't have a proper scheme to utilize their talents, then you have nothing. You have a bunch of 5 Stars playing like 1 and 2 stars.
On the other hand, a good scheme can make even 1 and 2 stars be extremely productive.
Need proof?
Les Miles, nearly his whole career.
Mike Leach, his whole career.

You know who else calls plays by your logic?
3rd string QBs with headsets on the sidelines.
This is a hilarious argument over semantics. Ensminger is just physically calling the plays he's not actually selecting the plays to be called. He's just a voice.
Orgeron specifically stated that Joe Brady selects the play and relays it to Ensminger and Ensminger takes it if he wants it. Therefore, Joe Brady is calling the plays and Ensminger is a gatekeeper but let's be honest, we all know Ensminger isn't turning down any plays that Joe is suggesting.
He said he needed and wanted help and both him and Orgeron admitted that they knew nothing about the spread offense but they wanted to go to it and they needed somebody who did. Ensminger is the boss of the offense and Joe is the mastermind. It's like any other corporate structure. The suits aren't walking down to the factory floor and pulling the wrenches out of the workers hands but they can still tell them what to do if they wanted. If they knew what to do.

From Brady's own mouth he said that Ensminger calls most of the plays and he occasionally calls a play. Take it FWIW

I really don’t know how many times it has to be said, but Steve Ensminger calls the plays. That’s not an opinion. It’s a matter of fact. Joe Brady is an invaluable member of the offense in what he’s brought to LSU in co coordinating and in setting this offense up, but Steve calls the plays, and to be honest with you, it’s pretty embarrassing to know how little credit he gets for that. He’s done nothing but GIVE GIVE GIVE to LSU. That’s all.

Again, semantics. If by 'calling a play' you mean speaking into your headset what you're told to say? Technically that's 'calling a play'. If you mean more euphemistically 'calling a play', like selecting the play to be called, then that's a totally different animal.
Some of you are falling for coach-speak. The proof is in the pudding. Not an offensive coordinator job since the Bill Clinton administration, two years of Ensminger 70-something ranked offenses and a Joe Brady Broyles Award, maybe the best offense college football has ever seen and several offensive coordinator job mentions later and some of you still think this is the Ensminger show. SMH

quote:and some of you are wishcasting against reality. Ensminger is the OC and the playcaller. The OC gets input from several people through the course of the game on run plays and pass plays from everyone to Orgeron to Tommie Robinson. Brady is the most significant contributor but Ensminger decides what play is called and when. Literally everyone from players to coaches is on record that this is the setup but if you want to claim conspiracy theory that everyone is lying (for what reason I don’t know) then go off. But know that you’re wrong. Ensminger is the playcaller.

Really It is one team one heartbeat. It is all a collaborative effort. crazy that some are still trying to shite on the coaching staff in the midst of a season like this.
