For those that eat canned beets, do you eat them at room temperature or refrigerated? Also how do you season them?

Beets, sliced purple onions, salt/pepper is all you need (Sometimes I'll crumble feta cheese on top as well).

Gets better with time too, prefer to make ahead of time and refrigerate and then eat.

When I was a kid my mom use to dump the beets in a bowl, drain the juice into a pot, add some thin sliced onion, salt, pepper and a bit of vinegar and let that come to a boil so the onions soaked up the color and vinegar flavor.

Then add the cooled off juice back to the beets and refrigerate till time to eat.

Now, I grow my own beets and will take the whole with the skin on and bake them from time to time, steam some and usually pickle quite a few quarts with onion, garlic, mustard seed and a vinegar brine.

So much better than store bought canned beets.

I only eat the pickled beets and from the frig. I tried the canned great value ones from Walmart and they are just as good as the ones that cost a dollar more.

I prefer fresh roasted but I sometimes warm canned and eat with goat cheese.

My parents eat them refrigerated with mayo.

I grow them and roast and like them with various items that way but I like pickled canned beets on a salad with some olive oil and the beet juice. Rouses has jarred whole baby beets that I buy.

Marinade in refrigerator canned beets for one week or more in left over juice of Vlasic zesty bread butter chips. Eat right out the jar. Addiction warning.
