Most Rolexes I see look like shite. Like a Fossil watch with an expensive price tag.
I would be curious which specific Rolexes look like shite to you.
From 3 feet a Rolex looks like a lot of inexpensive watches primarily because of the huge number of inexpensive watches that ape the visual characteristics of many Rolexes.

WG day date 40. Love it. Like others have said they hold their value better than others in the same arena. And if you grab one of the watches that the rolex gods deem awesome then you can wear it for years and make money.

I explained that farther back in the thread.

I just have a hard time spending more on a watch than I spend on a gun.

But if you wear the watch everyday for the rest of your life then the cost per wear is minimal. I have some guns I haven’t shot in a few years.
Besides, I thought you had several custom rifles, if I’m not mistaken

Are seeing any value right now in the secondary market yet with the economy down turn ?

I had a GMT with a Pepsi bezel. Brought it pre-owned. Wore it seldom. Felt pretentious wearing it. Eventually sold it - did amazing on resale price. I purchased two Tudor watches with it and even put about $3600 in savings.

Currently:
Deepsea Sea Dweller
Polar EXP II
Kermit Sub
WG blue Sub
Seadweller 4000
Milgauss
Batman GMT
2 vintage manual Daytonas
Cellini Date
I would personally use all of this disposable income on other things that bring me more enjoyment.
Good for you, though.

Obtuse, you have the patience of Job. To the interlopers — if you don’t like watches or understand those who do, why show your arse on a thread for watch enthusiasts?
On another note, I’ve bought watches from David at DavidSW. At this point I would rather buy a watch from him at a premium verses waiting for the watch from an AD. His watches are exactly as described and are delivered on time, every time.

I do have several and getting one made right now that I’ll top with some great glass. I am also some what of a watch guy but prefer Omega and under 8k for my watches.

Not a lot of those made. Did the dial turn matte or stay glossy?
Posted on 4/11/20 at 1:41 pm to Boston911
Inherited one, wear it maybe 3-4 times a year

I have had a few different references over the years. In general I prefer the Sea-Dweller.

Nice! I love my 16800. If I hadn’t been going for a birth year I would have gone with that one.

Guess you aren't into Purdey, Holland and Holland, Greener or Boss.

Is that an "R" serial number or 9,4XX,XXX? I have a 16610 that I bought in July 1989 that is an "L,2XX,XXX", which if I'm not mistaken should be in the first run with the new movement. I knew nothing of models at the time other than date or no date, but wonder how close mine is to the Triple Zero model. My impression is that the only difference between the two is the movement, correct? Is that a piece you bought new or as a vintage purchase specifically because of its rarity?
With regards to my 16610, it has a very nice creamy patina on the tritium lume dots, but the hands are a service set (albeit Tritium but not with the same patina). Was wearing the watch while playing catching one of my boys practicing pitching and the second hand came off - RSC replaced the whole handset. I was into collecting at the time, but not with the knowledge I came by later, or would've tried to have second hand just put back on at an independent shop.
