And at primetime theyd have reruns of CSI....
I genuinely dont understand that network.
Its like they were stubborn just like Les Miles and didnt want to evolve with the times.

All eyes are on 2:30 game with no competition.

Looks like this will not be an issue for much longer

Even if they renew cbs and sec contract... just please God let Gary be gone

Like their direct network competitors NBC & ABC, they see the Saturday night slot as more important for reaching a bigger audience than CFB fans only.
When was the last time you saw NBC put their beloved ND in a prime time Saturday night slot?
The broadcast networks have to appeal to those that could care less about CFB.

Because they have all the eyeballs at 2:30. No other SEC games are shown during that time slot. If ESPN chooses to show the “big” game at night, they may choose to run all other SEC games at 11 and 2:30 to maximize eyeballs on the prime time slot. That’s why I don’t think people are going to like this as much as they think.

Friday and Saturday prime time is not like Sunday through Thursday. A lot of people that buy shite—the ones the advertisers cater to—are out and about on Friday and Saturday nights, not sitting at home watching tv.

They probably get better ratings with CSI. College football is insanely popular in the south. It's a niche sport everywhere else.

Bama/LSU had the largest ratings of the year in college football, even with a 2:30 time slot.

Money and ratings.
5 of the 12 most highly viewed games this year were 2:30 CBS kicks.
- Alabama-LSU
- LSU- Georgia
- Alabama-Auburn
- Auburn-LSU
- Georgia-Florida
Only 3 of the top 12 games were “prime time” slots.
Good article on it here (paywall)

Guessing that 1 of the top prime time games was LSU-Texas. Has to have rated high in 2 of the 10 largest TV markets.

Saturday night has traditionally been a grave yard, worst ratings of the week. Outside of LSU and a couple of other schools, most college games were played during the day. The move to prime time network games is a relatively recent development. You will not the most watched game this year was at 230.
If you step out of the LSU bubble, all but a couple of schools always played during the day. Michigan didn't even ave lights until not that long ago.

That's behind a paywall, what does he say?

LSU is one of if not the only schools in the country that care so deeply about playing at night. It’s why “Saturday Night in Tiger Stadium” is such a great and unique tradition. If everyone felt the same way it wouldn’t be as big of a deal.

Right now, my greatest fear for 2020 scheduling is this: CBS shows LSU-Texas at 2:30pm on Sept 12. That would suck for multiple reasons.

CBS has no rights to non SEC games. That game will likely be prime time on ABC.

Because it's after folks do their chores, shopping, etc and before they go out to dinner. Trust me, "they've" got it figured out.

Unfortunately you’re wrong here. If the game is in an SEC stadium they go by SEC TV contracts. That’s why they put UGA-ND as the CBS prime time game last year.

Because the 2nd half doesn’t start til prime time

Not sure about your first sentence (ND @ UGA 2019) but yes, why would UT @ LSU be anything different than the last game, primetime?
