wasn't I arguing with you and calling you names as recently as a year ago? I'm sure I was right, but sorry if I was too much of a dick. Welcome to the right side of political thought. I was a liberal once too (an early-1990s Democrat, not an America-hating, white-people-loathing, illegal-alien-loving, deranged leftist)
I had tried to defend my party while working on it. But it is a list cause. No worries, I have thick skin

Welcome. Better late than never, brother. Now work as hard to MAGA as you did for the democrats. We need you and America needs you.

I’m definitely voting Trump again. Voted for him in 2016 so this break has been forming for a while. Sucks because I feel like I wasted over 20 years of my life there

Well congrats on the epiphany.
Sucks for them, though. You seemed to be one of the few reasoned, relatively sane ones they had left.

Thank you. I see the younger leaders coming up through the local ranks; they are mirror images of the extreme leaders of that party. I don’t think there is much hope.

You can't feel that way.
I'm a Reagan conservative who walked away from the GOP and became an independent (non-affiliated) voter in 2004 after 20 years in that party. My feeling was I wasn't leaving them, they had left me.

Like the ole saying goes.
Anyone in their 20's and doesn't vote Dem doesn't have a heart. Anyone in their 40's and doesn't vote Republican doesn't have a brain.
Welcome aboard soldier!

Sums it up; they left me. I just have spent so much blood, sweat, and tears in that party.

More or less so for the 10 or so years I guess. Was pretty liberal in my early years

I love the paraphrase from Churchill you did. That’s pretty much correct. Well said

Congrats on being honest.
There is no room for that in the Democratic party.

The centrist position is currently held by the right wing nazis.

Bringing anybody over with you? Are your feelings shared by others that you worked with?

That's an impossible task in my eyes as long as that party doesn't denounce post birth abortions.

I can respect that, believe it or not.
Ok, question, now that you can speak freely...
- what do moderate democrats (your peers, I assume) think of the fact that more and more, they are being represented by:
- Beto
- Al Green
- Bernie
- Sheila Jackson Lee
- Al Sharpton
- BLM
- Eric Holder
- Julian Castro

A few local and county folks. I know a lot of Southern Dems that voted Trump in 2016

It’s been a mixed bag on those. But Sharpton isn’t well liked.
Beto is an idiot and Sanders is nuts. But the 35 and under folks like him
