Damn true. I highly recommend Hayek' s book The Road to Serfdom. Very eye opening.

Congrats on being honest.

There is no room for that in the Democratic party.

Very sure. I have tried to defend the Party and tried to work to defend the centrist position but the Party is too far gone

I have to admit when I rebuked the Dim party +30 years ago I was pretty damn sad. Our family roots were in the blue collar union working class and eventually I had to be honest and admit that the Dim party no longer represented my political views.

I agree. I didn't do this lightly. Most of my family is GOP but I had strong ties to the Democratic Party. It's a shame to see what that party has become. There will be others leaving too

I honestly wish you would have stayed and tried to save the Democratic Party. A big problem with the left is that they’ve never figured out how to call out their fringe for being too extreme.

I've spent the last several years trying to do that. The older Dems were pretty solid and level headed. But they are stepping down due to age. The younger crop coming up are in the mold of AOC and Bernie and they are rabid. I see a big part of the Democratic Party breaking off and joining the Social Democrats in the next 10-20 years. There is going to be a huge fracture of the Party. It hasn't reached critical mass yet. But it's going to soon.

I was a huge DU type during Bush/Cheney. I still stand by a lot of that as I think the neocons are bad guys. But, seeing the left become unhinged lunatics that support police state tactics, war, tranny bathrooms, and censorship makes me sick.

I'll check it out. Try reading Mark Levin's Liberty and Tyranny. That will make you hate the statists and hate what they have been doing to this great nation!

I'll check that out. Thanks. Someone mentioned being a tax payer. Yeah, I really love govt everytime I get my pay check and see how much they take. It's a freaking lot and it sucks.

It’s not just state, it’s federal and FICA that take a huge chunk.

When I registered to vote many years ago, I registered as a Democrat, but over time, I saw this party for what it was “a Socialist Party”, so I changed my party affiliation to Republican. However, some Republicans are no different than the Democrats. I guess my next step will be an Independent.

I wish more people would do this, and I don’t mean just democrats. Both parties are corrupt and need to be done away with by having people leave them by the thousands and elect more independents. Elect people by their beliefs, not by the letter next to their name. And don’t be stupid enough to re-elect someone just because they are already in office.

This coming from someone who left the Republican Party after the 2016 elections after seeing how hard the GOPe fought the Trump campaign during the primary.
