Update NYT:
LINK

quote:

“Today, I am finally free from the injustice that left me locked in a box for 23 years,” Mr. Flowers said in a statement.

Dudes been tried 6 times for the same crime. He has spent 22 years in prison. Finally out on bail, waiting to see if the crooked prosecutor will try him for a seventh time.

Two hung juries and four overturned convictions due to prosecutorial misconduct.

Flowers was literally a choir boy with no arrest record when he was nabbed for this crime.

I listened to a podcast on this story recently. The journalist pretty much destroyed every piece of evidence the DA had.

That he can be tried a 7th time after 2 hung juries and multiple instances of prosecutorial misconduct shows how much of a sham our "justice" system really is.

The prosecutor probably runs unopposed in every election.

I listened to that last year. DA Doug Evans is a corrupt piece of shite, and it's unbelievable that he can still maintain his position with how he's handled this case. He will get his though. One day.

There's never officially been a verdict.

Mistrials and overturned convictions don't count as verdicts.

If you want to read about this issue, here is your Google search phrase (minus the quotes):

He was a disgruntled former employee who owed the owner money, and lied about it to the cops.

His uncle discovered a 380 pistol missing from his truck that day. The murder weapon (never recovered) was a 380.

His hand tested positive for gunshot residue.

Multiple credible eyewitnesses identified him hanging around the store before it opened. (Later, some witness testimony was either discredited or recanted, but not the people who saw him out side the store that morning).

An almost exact amount of the money stolen from the store was found in hidden in his girlfriend's house.

The bloody footprints at the scene were a unique size 10.5 Grant sneaker. He had the box in his closet. And multiple people said he owned that shoe and wore it often. But he couldn't produce them.

This wasn't just a railroad to justice. Yeah the prosecutor is a piece of shite. But he's a murderer.

I do recall a gun being found under a house. It was turned into the police and it has since been "lost."

I think sooner or later the state is going to offer an Alford Plea.

Doug has got to be a democrat. Based on this he could be chairman of the House Intel Committee.

It was $30, and Flowers maintains he was only fired because he abandoned the job. Killing 4 people because you owed someone $30? Maybe for a hardened criminal, but this guy had a clean record. That motive just doesn't square.

Didn't the police midhandle the alleged weapon? I thought I read one of the convictions was overturned because of that.

And multiple supposed witnesses recanted their testimony.
