Baton Rouge Zoo gets a lot of grief on here but it’s in the top 5 of all zoos I’ve visited.

Cairo's is nice in a minimalist, "build some walls and herd everything we can find over here" way.

We went to Orange Beach over Thanksgiving and went to the Gulf Coast Zoo in Gulf Shores. (It was the subject of a former Animal Planet series - The Little Zoo that Could) It is certainly not a big zoo and doesn’t have spectacular landscaping. However, it was old school and very interactive. You could buy food to feed the animals, pay a little extra and hold baby kangaroos, feed sloths, or play with the lemurs. My college age kids had so much fun that they went back the next day. The staff is really friendly and have a great love for all the animals there.

The Monroe zoo is pretty cool. The boat ride is fun. Just don’t wear red because one of the animals spits at red.

We really like the Memphis zoo. Its large, has alot to do and very clean. We also like the Hattiesburg zoo, its smaller but very nice.

Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia. Has been ranked in the top 10 for years.

If you are ever in DFW and just want to go to a zoo Ft Worth's is way better than Dallas's.
