Ordinarily, to comply with accreditation standards, I would think a search will be conducted by a committee appointed by the BOS. Input from university constituencies, such as faculty, staff, students, alums is a normal part of the process. The Governor doesn’t make the selection, but he may influence the choice through his connections to supervisors. Hopefully the search process will have more integrity than the recent chancellor search at Ole Miss, which was a complete disaster. The BOS makes fhe appointment.

Edwards is a good person to have on this. Picking the head of a major university is not about political right wing against left wing agendas. Edwards has been a strong advocate of funding the universities and restoring stability. We will be fine.
