Speaking to Vanity Fair, the filmmaker revealed that Episode 9 will introduce a host of new Force powers – including some that will "infuriate some fans." Reasoning why, he told the publication: “It was really important that we not just redo the things you’ve seen, but add new elements—which we knew will infuriate some people and thrill others."
That's not to say that the old ways have been forgotten, with Abrams confirming that they have simply found "new ways of doing sort of traditional, must-have sequences" such as "chases or lightsaber battles". He continued: “We wanted to make sure that this picture also showed aspects of the Force in ways that go beyond what you’ve seen before.”

All of which will come from Rey no doubt.

Is it too early for me to start an official Episode 9 thread to keep all of this in there?

This sounds like it will go over well

I’m actually ok with this as long as there is no more Mary Poppins.
In TFA JJ gave us new applications of the Force not yet seen in the trilogies and I enjoyed it.
In the book Lords of the Sith there is a sequence where Vader is chasing the protagonists and the author described it as if Vader was striding but quickly gaining ground to their all-out sprint.
This would all be great had TLJ not completely turned me off from the trilogy.

I watched a spoiler vid on YouTube with some robot puppet looking thing. I won’t go into details, but it sounds horrible if it was true. And it all goes back to Rian Johnson totally fricking the story arc in Ep 8

If you repeatedly chant "Orango Mano Badipo" you reach God Tier immediately!

Hopefully one will be giving Rey the ability to time travel to 2013 and give a Force suggestion to the Lucasfilm/Disney boardroom to map out a coherent roadmap for the trilogy before they start production on Episode VII.

This entire movie is setting itself up to win every single Razzie Award.

Maybe it the SJW fans. The force erases “the last Jedi” from canon

Can’t be any worse than finally figuring out that you can just kamikaze hyperdrive yourself to win battles..

I hope the new powers are stupid as possible, like in Superman 4 where his eyes could rebuild brick walls for some reason.

I'm sure it'll involve using the Force to dictate gender fluid pronouns to all stormtroopers who identify as wookie

Still can't get over the horses in the trailer
Hopefully they cut that from the movie

you gotta realize that the "new force powers" will be gender fluidity.

Guessing from Baby Yoda it's force healing powers.
