What's the least amount you've settled a debt for (in percentage)?

I currently have a debt. A year ago, they made me an offer of half, which is pretty good. However, it took a while to scrape up some cash to settle.
Right now I am at 40% of the total.
I get it, they have all the leverage and ultimate say-so. But I figured I can settle for even less IF i have the money upfront and proactively contact them.

Trashier than the trashiest trash you could find in a trashy neighborhood in the trashy section of Trash Street.

Why in the blue frick would you pay off your ex wife's student loan debt???

Did you willingly take on the debt, and enjoy the benefits of what you received? Quit working the system, and pay what you owe.

I'm guessing he agreed to pay half in the divorce and it framing it poorly.

100%.
You borrowed someone else's money. Why can't you give them the same amount back?

This was near the end of our marriage. When we (meaning me) we’re still trying to make it work. This was the last salvo. But other things came to light to reveal her true nature. I ended up getting my son, the house, and all the marital assets along with no alimony or child support.

When I was in the MTG Biz fulltime I had a dude who was a truck driver. Long haul. He was almost out of a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy. He had tons of equity in his house and didn't realize he could refinance, pay it all out and get on with his life a little quicker until he talked with us.
Ford Motor Credit was being a stickler on a loaded out Mustang he'd bought. He owed like $25K still even through the BK.
I called them up and settled it for $2,500. Literally 10 cents on the dollar and got it in writing. Kinda surprised myself.
This makes me think of a spinoff thread but this story is applicable and one of the rules in life I live by:
Never be afraid to pitch the deal. Your ego will get in the way of dealmaking every single time. The less you have of it...the less shame you possess in negotiations, the better.
Mind you, having no ego or shame must not = not having respect. For either yourself or the person you're negotiating with.
