My folks' house in the Memphis suburbs backs up to a pretty large swath of forest lining the Wolf River. In that forest there apparently is a pretty sizeable pack of feral hogs that has run rampant over the past couple of years.

I went to visit for Thanksgiving and my dad showed me how these bastards have basically destroyed years' worth of landscaping work he did on the yard. They apparently breed in huge numbers and cause millions in agricultural damage every year. I also saw the story about how a couple of them killed a lady in Texas.

Is it legal to shoot and kill these vermin without a hunting license? I feel like you are doing a disservice to nature if you see one and don't put a bullet through it.

Man shite, I thought the Asian carp was the worst menace.

Or maybe the kudzu vine.

Or all those god damn Florida pythons.

why not purchase a cheap hunting license and help fund efforts by the state to thwart the pig population?

In some states you can kill them 24/7. Others daylight only. I believe all require a license though.

Just curious, where do they live? I've never heard of... well... any wild hogs around here. I am in no way doubting you, I'm just curious as to where they are.

They are a problem for sure but at least a delicious one...

Night vision / thermal scope, ice chest of beer sounds like a good way to spend a night.

Hell yeah. And I am dead serious. They are good eatin. They used to be a bigger problem in some areas around here, but people have helped control their population.

There are homesites on my way to our camp. The hogs get in the yards and it looks like the yards have been plowed. It is amazing the damage done.

Feral hogs are 1. highly abundant; 2. delicious; 3. nutritious; 4. free.

In a more civilized time we'd be giving up our thanks to God for this incredible, undeserved blessing instead of bitching about it.
