While I do agree that most of them were flops and no team should do that to gain a competing edge or time out to game plan, we can’t really complain. We did the same thing against Texas at the beginning of the year. You really shouldn’t boo when a player goes down regardless of the reason. You never know what could have happened. These kids are putting their future on the line for your entertainment. I’ve seen people tear Mcls, acls, etc while just doing a lunge in warm ups. Also, it may not always be a false cramp. Cramps hit you and there really isn’t much you can do about it. It may look fake, but the pain isn’t. I know many of you prolly don’t remember having a cramp, because you don’t do that type of physical activity anymore. Again I am not for this. It’s just an opinion that needed to be said.

I've never had a cramp that made me 'fall' to the ground...

It was early September and we had no AC in our locker room. Last week it was 65 degrees.

I was at the Texas game and we flopped a few times. So I wasn't booing at the game Saturday night. The booing at Texas was a bit excessive as well.

bullshite.

The flop by the AU player and especially the one by aTm we’re so over the top obvious that a flag should have been thrown.

If you are going to flop, fine, I get it is part of the gamesmanship. But god damn at least make an effort to sell it as real.

Every team fakes injuries to slow down offenses/allow for substitutions, but if you saw the clip of the Aggie falling and thought it was a legitimate cramp, then you need help.

Same with appendicitis, or a lightning strike.
None of which is relevant to the aTm MLB flop prior to our 2nd TD.
That was ridiculous.

In basketball, you get a set amount of time outs to use, and if you call more than you have you are assessed a technical foul (opponent shoots FT and gets the ball).

Give every CFB team so many injury timeouts and assess a delay-of-game penalty if that number is exceeded.

Simply:
- allow no substitutions other than the injured or flop player

- require injured/flop player to stay out for at least 3 plays.

You don't have to 'ban' it (it's already banned- there's an unenforceable rule in place). Just take away some of the advantage and it will work itself out.

If a player is truly injured, you would expect them to be out for 3 plays anyway. No harm no foul if legit.

Well I stopped reading when you said these boys are putting their future on the line for my entertainment...... I disagree totally with you. They don’t give a shite about me or my entertainment.... they are putting their future on the line for big $$$$$$ and a ticket to a NFL team.

I truly don't care if the other team flops.

A guy is laying on the ground? It's bad form to boo him.

Can it be used as a strategy? Sure it can. But, there is a cost with that player being out the next play. It's not my job, or the official's job, to determine whether the cost is worth the strategic advantage. In the cases this year with aTm and Auburn, it didn't hurt us when a defense did it. Burrow ran for his TD against Auburn on the next play, right at where Bryant would have been, IIRC. Nothing hurt our offense against aTm.

I do like the idea of having him sit for 3 plays, but don't care too much.

Like the question of the run-off of time on a review, there is no way you can write the rule where it will only hurt the offending team.

1st Qtr cramps that cause you to go down on the field ?
Then get up and walk off without a limp ?

That BS should be a delay of game penalty at the least and an unsportsman like penalty at the worst.

As long as teams run a hurry-up form of offense—a form of gamesmanship—defenders will answer with their own form of gamesmanship to slow the game down to its intended pace. This is something that polices itself. If the other team’s players are flop-dropping, it’s because you’re trying to game the system by playing at a pace not intended in the game.

You should investigate what you're talking about before you actually start talking. Just after the Texas game someone did an analysis of all of our defensive players who had to leave the game. Of all of the players who needed assistance off the field, there were (if memory serves) only 2 occasions where that player reentered the game after one play. All of the other players were out for multiple plays, went to the locker room (on two occasions) and I believe one of the players did not reenter the game at all.

Yeah they're playing football for our entertainment

These kids don't really care about the fans and if they do it is at the bottom of the list. Booing someone who is genuinely hurt is deplorable, but this flop BS needs to end.
