we have come full circle back to 1978 when schedule does not matter

remember the subjective AP and UPI polling?

remember when OU and BYU and nebraska played nobodies??

WELCOME BACK TO THE 70s and 80s! Need BCS system for these shite playoffs or just go to 6 teams . top two seeds get bye

power 5 champs are in. last team is a Wc but is predicated on some metric without a human element

use some metric humans cannot diddle with

The only ranking that matters is the last one

This is nuts.

If Alabama had our exact season, they would not be #2 right now.

Pauly Howard on VSIN's 'Follow the Money', and also Circa Sportsbook Director Mike Palm on Gil Alexander's 'It's a Numbers Game', we're both apoplectic over LSU falling to #2,

Mitch says he knows someone that has worked in industry, that stated to him the commitee are all bought and paid for, and will toe the party line agenda. Palm, one of the sharper numbers makers and bettors in LV, said LSU has played the better schedule to date, and has the quality wins..he was aghast..and he's a Midwesterner.

Let's hope Moscona's thinking an ATM and UGa win springboard LSU back to the top.

The committee are all frauds tainted by politics and money. They control the narrative and use no rhyme or reason. Its digusting we let them destroy college football

This movement smells like the committee wants to position LSU so if they lose to GA they can justify moving Bama up & LSU out of the playoffs

Hold on now, these people on the committee have full time jobs, do you expect them to put in the effort to "back up their decisions with metrics or hard data"? Much easier to take the advice of OSU butt munchers

The only person that has gained more on them dropping LSU is PF. Even he said that. Its hyperbole.

It’s you who are off base here, not the committee. Your complaint that they can’t defend their decision is based on your mistaken opinion that there is an algorithm in effect. There is not. There is one deciding factor: where does the committee think each team should be ranked. The guy defended the committee perfectly and completely by saying each week we evaluate the teams, and in our opinion Ohio State is the better team. There is nothing else, and there should not be anything else. This is the way college football has been for all of its existence except for a few BCS years.

Why is this surprising to anyone? I honestly don't know why this is surprising. The playoff committee took a broke system to select two teams, broke it even worse and expanded the field from two to four.

Very little was done to address the regular season, less transparency was instilled in the selection process and people thought it was a good time to use that fricked up system for more teams.

The fact is, people wanted a playoff. They didn't care what kind of playoff, what it looked like or if anyone addressed the real issues....just give me a playoff and give it to me now.

Congrats...here's your playoff. You're welcome.

That's the beauty of it from their perspective. They don't have to defend it. It just is.

As we have no choice but to accept it.

College football is sadly following in the footsteps of the NFL: turning into an entertainment enterprise rather than a competitive sport. Where things like TV ratings, ad sales, and net profit matter more than actually deciding on the field which team is the best.

Highschool and Div II (FCS) football is still based on competition.

I stopped watching the NFL long ago when it became obvious that things are fixed.

The CFP committee is taking its queues from the NFL IMO.

Good post.

I always thought the #1 team was the best team not the complete team.

I cannot wait to play OSU. Burrow has a score to settle and it will get uglier than 2007. The real test will be getting past Clemson.

It would be hilarious if OSU lost in the semis to Bama’s backup QB. It could easily happen.
