Finebaum just had Bill Hancock (CFP Executive Director) on his show and pushed him on why the committee dropped LSU behind Ohio State. He even brought up Mike Greenberg's comments on the decision -

Hancock had no answer. He literally could not provide any justification other than "Ohio State is a complete team".

Finebaum then brought up what many are thinking, in that it looks like the committee dropped LSU to avoid a possible LSU/Bama rematch in the semifinals. Again, Hancock had no answer, stating that they just "evaluate all the teams" from week to week.

It just amazes me that these people can't defend their decisions. They can't back up any of their decisions with metrics or hard data. Any controversial decision simply comes down to their own subjective perceptions on the quality of each team.

The only way Paul will come to LSU's defense is if it affords him an opportunity to trash the Big 10.

I wish Finebaum would answer why before we played Alabama he said if Alabama loses they are out.. done and then they moment they lose he starts lobbying for them to be in.

But but Texas isn’t as good as people thought they were.

I love how LSU scheduling a game AT freaking Texas is actually hurting them in the eyes of the committee. That’s one of the ballsiest non-conference games you can schedule.

here comes the residential Ohio State fans to inform us they're going to somehow survive the gauntlet of Michigan, Penn, State (without their starting qb the second half and barely winning), and :gasp: Minnesota. Murderers row, baws

before they cry about how good they are-we all know Ohio State s a very good team. But everyone knows it's way more beneficial to play a hapless Utah team instead of Clemson, or Baylor or Tua-less Alabama for that matter. Plus LSU would bring a far better crowd to Atlanta than Phoenix, not even close

This is the type of stuff in college and pro sports that has progressed to the point that watching and believing in what you are so passionate about has just been lost. Really is a sad state but that's where I have been for a while now

How dense do the committee and critics have to be to not even acknowledge that Texas really was a much better team at the time we played them? it was their biggest home game in 13 years (since ironically 2006 Ohio State), and they were much healthier.

Well, doesn't that benefit the SEC? Don't we bitch when playoff selection committees match up SEC teams in baseball and basketball?

You’ll never be able to remove the human element as long as there is a human committee

As I say in my weekly CFP rankings thread, Alabama, Clemson, and Utah have beaten ZERO currently ranked CFP teams. They're top 10 and have nothing to show for it. Baylor skyrocketed after beating a dog shite Texas squad. LSU dropped for drumming Arkansas and their justification was "Ohio State has multiple top 20 wins." The CFP committee is a biased political body whose intent is to stir up controversy and choose what will make the most money and draw the most eyes.

I also love how people act like playing Texas in week 2 is the same as playing them in November. If LSU played Texas this week they would beat Texas by 4 TDs.

Texas and their fan base thought they were great in September and were fired up to make a statement. Now Texas and their fan base knows they aren’t good this season. The mental part of sports is entirely too underrated.
