Of course the world doesn’t; it’s people who need more people. Let’s exaggerate it. If there were only 20 of us we could not sustain modern medicine, the internet, manufacturing, roads and bridges, electrical generation or plumbing. In short, we’d go back to primitive tribal living. This has happened before, by the way - not from a reduction in population, but because the smart people went away - in Britain when the Romans left.

This is all good news.

Geographically speaking we are now a declining population. Declining populations are usually highly industrial and advanced. They possess more professional and well fed people. They subsidize labor with migrant workers (seeing that now). They have less poverty and are highly educated. We've entered the master-class of world society....And we've managed to enter with a population of more than 4 times the population of Germany.

other declining populations are

Germany
Japan
Switzerland
Luxembourg
Spain

Ballooning populations are usually associated with poor healthcare, poor economics, poor people, uneducated people, and mass poverty.

It's a great time to be alive in the USA despite what the MSM would have you believe. Its safe, everyone has a job that needs/wants one, and we have better jobs than we did 10 years ago.

NOW, if the liberal policies that open range to too many migrants dont ruin us, we will continue to prosper. Germany should have shut their borders down 15 years ago and they would be the premier world power in economics.

That isn't the important breakdown.

The "TFR" (don't know what that acronym is) for stupid people sure as Hell hasn't.

People are wanting to live a more selfish lifestyle in this ultra materialist and consumer lifestyle nowadays. Almost every show and commercial make it seem like kids are the worst and cramp your style.

It's also economic, because single income households are no longer viable. And because raising a family has become so expensive.

IMO this is the largest factor. My grandparents generation was the last generation to be able to raise a family on a single income comfortably.

Wage stagnation has further pushed the situation out in the open. And when even a secretary job expects you to have an Associates Degree then it further plunges the general population in debt.

I don’t concede this, but you said people in their mid 20s are getting “looked down on” by professional America for getting married. That’s not true at all.

Yeah, people in the typical prime child bearing years are definitely getting the squeeze financially. Rent. Healthcare. Daycare. Student loans.

Once many get to better financial times, it's often late and you have one kid maybe. At that point, you think about if having a kid is even worth it to you.

This isn't the old days where having a bunch of kids was beneficial to the household.

Makes sense birthrates are falling here.

I can only speak for my class, and the culture I grew up with. But it’s considered odd.

It’s associated with religiosity, which is one of the reason it raises eyebrows.

And it’s not the feminist thing to do.

When my peers did get married, they were in their 30s. They’d finished graduate school, and they were making good money at that point.

Not everyone got married though. I can think of two girls I went to school with in particular. Both very pretty, but I think they missed their opportunities by waiting so long.

So people that are coming of age in a time where they are saddled with college debt and looking for jobs that do not support the debt they’ve incurred that they cant get without are making the smart choice to not have kids and exacerbate the problem?

Okay boomer. Get off my lawn

I actually am acquainted with several people that are almost 40 or over 40 and never had kids and are thankful they didn’t now.

The Virginia piedmont.

Church attendance was modest when I was growing up. Most of the people were nominally Episcopalian though. Attendance declined precipitously as I grew older and almost none of my peers attend now. I can’t think of anyone who’s raised their children in the church either.

The core of the population had lived there for several generations. It was a mixture of old southern families with large horse farms, and then poor white and black families who worked on them. There was also a large contingent of DC people though. As well rich people from places further north who wanted to buy into this English country lifestyle.
