Ah. That makes sense. He's some sort of villain? Trying to escape and entertaining himself along the way?

Dude that's Ozymandias; the watchman who dropped the squid on NYC.
Dr Manhattan probably stuck him on that moon as punishment for killing 3 million people.

Not only that, but I think characterizing the 7th calvary as the unequivocal villain will end up significantly missing the mark. I think they are more than just the next iteration of the KKK/Cyclops.
As I understand it, gray lines are the hallmark of the watchmen comic. None of the key players is all good or all bad. I suspect that will be the case here as well, with the 7th cavalry likely to be working towards freeing people from the fear created by viedt’s lie. Since they’re rorschach followers, seems likely that they want to unveil the squid scheme same as he did. I suspect we’ll ultimately come to understand their motivations well, and likely even borderline empathize with them. That’s what watchmen is all about.

Yeah. But that's the extent I know about him. I don't know any of the comic shite. I must have missed it but I thought he was chilling somewhere in Europe. Didn't realize he was banished to a moon.

Yep and he was trying to signal that satellite that was passing by.,. The Asian chick's perhaps?
It seems like maybe the Asian chick is helping Will and Night and maybe hunting for viedt to stop whatever the senator has in mind. I'm guessing he may end up helping in some way against 7th Calvary but likely not the way the Asian is expecting.
Whatever is going on with him is the most intriguing part of the show to me.

The whole nostalgia drug was a lazy plot device so they could devote an entire episode to how racist every white cop and business owner in NY is and how they had nothing better to do than beat up and throw racial slurs at Will/Night. That's exactly how it went I'm sure.
I think the most important part of that episode is the mind control part.
Anyone else think that meteor or whatever was Ozymandias returning?

Well, now I am.

Wait, is this show following the movie's "Dr. Manhattan destroyed New York" or the comic's "Veidt created and alien squid with psionic powers and dropped that on New York" storyline?

They are using the comic ending

I wish we could have seen fleshing out of HJ from Moore. He was a very minor, secondary character in the book- long dead. Since then, one writer turned him into a serial killer and another made him into a white-hating racist black man with Caucasian makeup. smdh

I love the comic and Snyder's film. The series is great if you like gay interracial sex with your hatred of white people.

That was a wasted hour of my life that did very little to advance to overall plot.
It was one of the best hours of tv this year and as Fewer Kilometers pointed out gave you a lot of backstory.

Can’t stand Night Nun, Looking Glass is okay, director is racist as frick. Lots of good plot twists, but there should be better characters.

I completely disagree. I think the show is doing a good job of using the kkk/7th cavalry as a distraction to what is really going on. The last episode was really good.
