Spoilers

I love so much about the show but 7 episodes in and the KKK/white supremacists/all-white-people-are-racist storyline seems completely out of place as the primary villain when we are planet jumping and so many other interesting sub plots are going on.

I get how this is used to shape hooded Justice backstory but dear god make it stop. Its every scene.

I would expect something better written from what is a really good show in every other aspect.

It seems really forced. I hope there's more to it and the writers have something more believable in mind as the show moves forward.

This is EXACTLY how I feel. The other garbage is completely forced. I love the Veidt/Laurie stuff, and am enjoying Looking Glass and Truie. The other plotline sticks out like a sore thumb.

its completely out of place. so the world united after the squid dump..except every single white person in the watchmen universe (even the ones we think don't) hate black people..because....why again?

its ridiculously awful and all i can think is the writers have something more intelligent up their sleeves.

I felt this way in episode 1 but I haven’t felt this way sense. The flashbacks do not count, imo. Life was pretty damn rough for black people in the period they focus on. The Tulsa Massacre did happen.

SPOILERS

The KKK angle died in the last episode as well. We saw that the police and 7th Cavalry are working towards uniting everyone by causing another squid like disaster. The two sides don’t know this obviously, but that is the end goal.

Maybe others felt the same when they saw teasers for last week?

I'm a huge fan of the original comics. When I heard the creators equating the threat of the Cold War with White Supremacy, I figured this show wasn't for me. Is it any good?

Wut?

The white people in Tulsa hate black people which is explained by the Tulsa Race Massacre and it's no stretch to think there were racists in the NYPD in 1938. The white masked police don't hate black people. Neither do Laurie or Looking Glass.

Baws on this board are going to have to accept the fact the white people's treatment of black people historically lead to these kind of storylines.

No one gets their feathers ruffled when films portray Nazi's poorly cry about the movies being "woke" because they are telling the truth. Nothing in the Watchmen is a stretch or unreasonable in terms of race relations and how they play out.

It's either great or an exercise in forcing SJW propaganda down the throats of America. Those have been the options so far.

Don Johnson, Night's best friend secretly had a Klan uniform in his closet and he was all about Justice for blacks.

It's a gimmick. A lame one.

The whole nostalgia drug was a lazy plot device so they could devote an entire episode to how racist every white cop and business owner in NY is and how they had nothing better to do than beat up and throw racial slurs at Will/Night. That's exactly how it went I'm sure.

That was a wasted hour of my life that did very little to advance to overall plot.

That could have wrapped up in 15 minutes.

Must be a good show if the biggest complaint you can come up with is “a little harsh to racists”

Lol. Come on man. We got the origin of a major character and original Minute Man plus the background on how and why a major character was killed and the background on this version of the Klan. This wasn’t just white people beating on black people.

Can someone explain the Jeremy Irons stuff to me? Seems like he launched himself through a porthole to a moon near Jupiter ,got pulled back then arrested by some random guy. Maybe I missed a part. What if he would have accidentally landed near Jupiter? The gravity would have sucked him in and smashed him.

He deduced from the corpses that he pulled back that he was on a frozen planet or moon. Europa would’ve been a good guess.

People are freaking out about SJW politics being in this show as if Alan Moore wasn’t the biggest left wing nut job and the original Watchmen run didn’t demonize right wing conservatives.

I’ve enjoyed the shite out of the show so far, granted I’m one episode behind. But the KKK/white supremacy stuff doesn’t bother me given the context of the universe they’re set in; this isn’t our same reality but one where Nixon was president for multiple terms and now Robert Redford is president. Color me not shocked that white people in this universe aren’t too thrilled with going from Nixon world to Veidt orchestrating “omg a giant inter dimensional squid alien killed millions, Robert Redford save us with some heavy left wing peace and love”. The show isnt terribly kind to left wing ideas either as they’re obviously pretty ineffective and do a shite job keeping the peace

Not a porthole, just an illusionary facade meant to disguise the fact that he is imprisoned on a moon. Likely put there by Dr. Manhattan and the cloned people are basically his prison guards.
