Disagree heavily.

Very much agree. And limit it to the jurisdiction your taxes go to.

18 y.o. should at least have beer.

The way it works now is that when they score booze they get the most potent thing they can.
The odds of alcohol poisoning go way up.

It's way harder to kill yourself with 3.2% beer. You tend to puke it back up because the volume is too high.

Counter point - why do young people who do not know how to balance a checkbook get to vote?

Why do old people harp on balancing a check book? It’s quite literally addition and subtraction and shite you don’t even have to know how to do it. It can be done automatically in Excel for you now

So... Lets talk about this generation being pathetic. Is that solely bad parenting? Or are kids just being born more fricked up? I blame society. It's sad what young people have to live in these days. God help us

You don't find it embarrassing that many of today's young people can't do simple math in their heads without electronic crutches to do it for them? You just made my case.

I never said they couldn’t do it without Excel, I just said it’s simple subtraction and addition (with a fat finger typo) and that use of excel can even automate it to the point you don’t even have to worry about a calculation error.

And why would you want someone to balance their checkbook in their heads? That’s the easiest way to make a mistake

terrible suggestion
So, recent college graduates working full time should have no say who sets economic policy? Active military should have no say who their Commander in Chief is?

I'm all for a higher voting age, but there should be exceptions for citizens with certain status like active military and citizens with full time/exempt jobs.

I agree with this. At a minimum members of the military should be able to have a beer. If you can die for your country, you’re old enough.

Damn man, did I say that? I do mine with a pen or pencil, sometimes even with a calculator just to check myself. You're twisting words here.

Did you already do forget what you typed?

Edit:
Sorry for the thread derail.

I don’t want the voting age to go up to 30 like some people are suggesting and I don’t think lost young people are as dumb as many in the older generation assume.

A lot of them have incorrect opinions or believe things to be proven factually untrue (ie socialism working). We need to do a better job educating and showing them why effort based capitalism and individualism is the best form of government and society.

You should be careful of this. I know plenty of property owners who vote to raise their own taxes every freaking time they says "it's for the schools"...I don't own property, but I pretty much always vote NO on any new taxes, property or otherwise.

I too was an adult when this happened and was back in college after serving in Vietnam. I first voted at the then required age minimum of 21 immediately before I got drafted. I agree with almost all you said, but I do not recall anything about the lowering of the voting age to 18 having a racial component.

It’s not just this generation. My generation was effed up too at that age, and I’m a boomer.

Only straight white Christian land owning males who deadlift should be able to vote, imo
