things that you use to watch tv? I'm so clueless but we're looking at ways to save money in general and just wondering if it's really cheaper than what we're paying.

Thanks for any helpful info.

I pay $50 for YouTubeTV. I already had internet, Netflix and Amazon Prime when we had cable so I don't consider that an added cost. I think my internet might be $10/mo more without the bundle savings.

My DirecTV crept up over the years to $140 monthly. Got a Roku, added YouTubeTV for $50 and Amazon Prime + Netflix movies for a total of 70 a month. To get equivalent via cable would cost at least 165 plus. Sports via YTv are great.

Ya, my dish bill got up to about $130 a month, so I went back to PS Vue and pay $60. Already had netflix, hulu, amazon etc, so I'm saving $70 a month.

YouTube TV, Internet, Disney + comes to $137 /month. I plan on getting rid of Youtube TV after football season.

I also have Amazon Prime Video, but I don't count that. I have Prime for the free two day shipping because my wife just can't stop ordering shite from Amazon.

It isn't cheaper for many, just more convenient as there is no contract.

Some will say I save no money but that is nonsense. I had Netflix Amazon and Hulu ALONG with cable. Now I have Netflix and Amazon and rotate Hulu with HBO and sometimes CBS All Access. My savings are the cost of Expanded Basic.

Folks like to argue that all I did was replace cable with the other options and that isn't true. Most folks have Netflix & Amazon before they even think of cutting the cord.

You don't get the full savings of cutting the cable option because you lose the bundle so they raise your internet price. I still easily save $50 a month and it is much easier to swap out the services I want with online options than it was to swap out cable boxes and services.

For me it was more about almost never turning on the cable box anymore. It wasn't to save money. It was to stop paying for a service I almost never used.

Like many others here, I had Netflix, Hulu, and amazon prime while still paying for Directv. I cancelled directv and currently have att tv (formerly Directv Now). I was paying roughly $140/month for directv. Now I’m paying $50-60 for att tv.

I’ve posted this before but the biggest difference to me in cable/satellite versus streaming is the boxes you have to rent. With cox or directv I was paying over $50/month just for the boxes. Some of those boxes would go a month or two without being used (porch, guest room, etc). With streaming services, I pop a $15 fire stick in the guest room and I’m not paying $9/month for the tv to not be used.
