This is the oldest trick in the book by Cities/Mayors. They ALWAYS play the cut police and firemen shite. That's older than the Earth has been a planet.

It's kind of amazing that they don't see how stupid it is to argue that they'll have to cut police and fire if an area they don't cover incorporates.

They always threaten to cut vital services, but they won’t bother many of the bureaucrats or special programs that we could pass on.

How many times have we heard that County/City was going to have to cut this and that, and City always threatening Firemen and Policemen, yet they always seem to manage, and manage it very easily.

It's all the Mayors office in St.louis ever throws out, anytime they talk about losing any income. St.Louis City politics. Slay was the worst and doom and gloom.

People have to be tired of this shite?

The people paying the bill are. The people that are her base are not.

Why can’t all the police and firefighters laid off by the creating of St. George just go work for the new police and fire departments that St. George will need?

Can’t pass the harder requirements likely

I'm still annoyed that the Board of Aldermen is trying to fight the ward reduction vote. In a historic turnout (I think it was the first Obama election) for city voting, the residents of the city voted overwhelmingly to cut the number of wards in half. And now that it's supposed to actually happen in the next couple years, they want to overturn it.

It's so frustrating.

I still think St Louis city and county should merge though, even though my stance on St George would seem to be opposite of that. There are too many municipalities in St Louis county.

ETA: Krewson got loudly booed at the SLU game yesterday. It was pretty funny.

She'll get reelected. EBRP is 45% black and probably 20-30% of white people vote Dem. Too many people left for the neighboring parishes or out of state in the past several decades. Our best hope is to elect a moderate Dem like Kip again.

The first thing they need to do, was getting voters to stop with Governments in these small munis. There is no need for a Mayor of Delwood, Mayor Of Blackjack, Bevery Hills, etc.

Beverly Hills , Mo, is basically a 8 second drive, from beginning to end, yet they have a police force and did have a Mayor at one time.

550 people live in BH, Missouri. LOL

2/3s of the Governor vote went Dem. That should be an eye opener.

Not to mention all of the Lsu/state employees that we have here. I'd be willing to bet that they vote Democrat more than Republican at a pretty high rate

How is a 500 person town in Missouri comparable to an 80,000 city to be formed in LA?

It's not, it was mentioned as part of a side conversation.

Not everyone votes partyline. Want moderate and independent votes, run candidates instead of empty suits with letters on them. Both parties are guilty of it.

That said, when was the last time BR had a Republican mayor? Was Simpson a Republican?

ETA - Simpson was a Republican and Tom Ed became one.

Then people may actually take them up on it, instead of approving ever-expanding taxes.

JBE got 66% of the vote?

Oh, you meant EBR.

EBR is a lost cause.

Seatbelt laws too.

I wear my seatbelt. I would advise others to do so as well. It’s the prudent thing to do.

But we don’t put them on school buses, and you CAN’T put one on a motorcycle. So don’t try to sell me that these laws are about “safety”.

If I were the judge that receives this case I would kick it out hard and fine broom and MOP each a $100k for being stoopid and jail 'em for 90 days for being a danger to society.
