oh - I cannot remember why I chose the 58 in my name - I wanted to be just ChineseBandit - but that name was already taken. The '58 Bandits are still my all time favorite group from LSU so that must be the reason.

That was the first year of the new substitution rules and Dietzel was the only coach in the nation to mold his team structure around those new restrictions.

Bandits never gave up a TD until the Duke game. The Bandits were so upset they begged Dietzel to let them "get it back."

They had a very limited offensive playbook because once in a while they would be "trapped" into staying on the field until the quarter ended = even if we had the ball.

One of those occasions arose late in the 3rd quarter - but we could have rotated the "white" team back on the field - but Dietzel allowed the bandits to take over on offense and they score a TD!!!!!

Gawd - I loved the Bandits. = they are my all time take-away from glorious LSU moments -

Another Bandit memory = In the bowl game after that undefeated season we played Clemson - and their coach (Howard?) made the comment = "We'll tun over their 3rd team" when they get on the field.

Here I am at 64. LSU grad. 73-76 and then law school 77-80. Never beat Bama while I was there.

Yes, our expression was help Mac Pack. He could not beat Bama.

Warren Capone was a stud as was Mike Anderson. Tommy Casanova was maybe the best athlete of all time at LSU.
We had great athletes but depth seemed to be the issue. They played with pride and the defense was always great!

That would be me - was in there for 2 years - on 3rd floor about where the north elevator shaft now stands.

Great time of my life.

Dorm rooms in West, East and North Stadia were cheap, primitive and almost third world in their shabbiness. South Stadium was a substantial upgrade, but still worse than any other dorm on campus. Air conditioning was unknown anywhere in the stadium.

I remember the communal lavatories back then, with rolls of toilet paper stuck on square pegs!

Today a player is ejected for going head to head on a tackle. When I was growing up we were taught to tackle that way.

I'm 62, and I was at LSU with two of my brothers. Was stopped in my car by Charlie Mac once, who was in a golf cart while the football team ran towards Tiger Stadium.

I remember pleading with Coach Mac from the stands to put Ensminger in during a game.

My brother Steve and I once watched the freshman football team play a scrimmage against Ole Miss in Bernie Moore Stadium (The infield was a grass football field at the time). The QB of the LSU freshman team was Alan Risher.

Started in South Stadium Dorms, then I "moved up" to Kirby Smith.

attended many games in late 60's but not nearly enough.

78 here. My first game was in 1946 (I think) against Tulane. About all I remember was my uncle played, was
dinged up a bit, LSU won and I was given an official LSU football. I would give a lot if I had that ball now.

One of my many favorite players was Max Fugler who played on the White Team in 1958.
