A small 13 member panel made up of participating schools AD’s, employees, boosters, and random people.

The Hunger Games were more fairly administered.

Agree with a poster below. Just pick 4 from the 5 conference champs. Leave one out every year. It should be easier that way.

It's all about the eye test...

It could all be fixed by requiring a team to win its conference to get in.

At what point do we stop caring when a team gets left out?

Like we cared when it was 3rd place vs 2nd place.

We care about 5th place vs 4th place.

Do we care about 7th vs 6th? 9th vs 8th? When?

8 teams, Conference champs auto bid, 3 at large teams. Could even do 6 the same way just have 1 at large team

Dumping the computer and going with a committee allows them the freedom to change the qualifiers every year. One year they can say schedule strength if it favors the elites and blue bloods the next they can say eye test. Basically they can warp the requirements to fit the elites whenever it suits them. I’ve always hated the newer systems because it robs fans of the great stories that made college football like Flutie vs Miami, BYU winning a title or even that great Georgia tech run in 1990. These great memories have been extinguished because of this corruption.

8-team playoff. Keep the committee and their rankings, but limit their influence by doing the following:

The five P5 champs automatically qualify, regardless of committee ranking.

Three at-large spots.

Have objective criteria for the at-large spots which makes the system fair for all teams, and provides transparency.

For example...

Any team which finishes in the top 6 of the committee rankings (if not a P5 champ) gets an auto-bid.

A group-of-five school gets an auto-bid assuming they a) won their conference, b) defeated at least 2 P5 teams, and c) finished in the Top 10 of the committee rankings.

I never understand the early melts for these things. Let the season finish out, then bitch all you want. I can guarantee it will change between now and then.

The CFP was designed for the "eye test". specifically to go against the BCS computers.

I still argue the only answer is 6 or 8 teams. No way it needs to be more than that.

Expand from 4 to 6. Gives each P5 conference champ a shot, plus the most deserving one or two second-best teams from a P5 conference (or an exceptional mid-major, like UCF was in 2017).

8 game playoff fixes this.

5 P5 Conference Champs
3 At Large with SOS weighed heavily, PF/PA not as much of a factor.

Repurpose some of the nothing bowls to be playoff games.

But, corporate $$$ will guarantee this never happens.

I don’t understand why they thought the BCS was worse than this

They could’ve created a playoff system based on BCS rankings.

You realize that each member leaves the room when their school is discussed?

If they have equivalent SOS going into the championship game, otherwise it's still a gift to the one who could have had an easier path. No one cares about the major bowls that used to garner a lot of attention. Should be 8 teams, then anything could happen. Team #8 gets some guys back for the playoffs that missed considerable games, anyone could win. I'm just tired of the Bama preference, hope AU kicks their arse.
