Backers of Louisiana Democrat Gov. John Bel Edwards are playing the race card against supporters of President Donald Trump, as the contest between Edwards and Republican Eddie Rispone heats up in the final week plus of the campaign.

Edwards’ allies are pushing a narrative that supporting Rispone is akin to being a racist like infamous white supremacist David Duke.

New radio ads launched this week by the Black Organization for Leadership Development (BOLD) urging people to vote against Rispone and for Edwards by claiming that Rispone and his highest-profile supporter President Trump are racists.

“Y’all remember that sickening feeling you got when you woke up and realized that Donald Trump was elected president? The nightmare is happening again—what is the difference between David Duke, Eddie Rispone and Donald Trump? The only difference is that Eddie Rispone will be governor if you do not stop him,” the BOLD ad narrator New Orleans City Councilman Jay Banks says in the ad.

“These people are telling you every day they do not care about you or anyone who looks like you,” Banks continues. “First it was the Muslims, then it was the Hispanics. Do you have any doubt what ‘Make America Great Again’ really means? Go and vote against hatred. Go and vote for your family and the people you care about. Go vote for John Bel Edwards.”

Edwards and Banks are particularly close allies. In fact, in 2017, Edwards went out of his way to publicly endorse Banks and praised him effusively.

The black power structure loves creating victims while lining their own pockets.

In other news, water is wet.

Does this sound like an incumbent who will win re-election to you?

Since their integrity is so high, I wonder if they'll also go after Coonman.

By the way, the second "item" on that listing is an outright falsehood. Aguirre was filed in the Eastern District of Texas and never went to trial. There were never any findings of fact and no determination by the Court that any of the Plaintiffs' allegations were true.

Liberals have forgiven Malcolm X, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and the Obamas for their racism.

I have forgiven David Duke.

I see no problem being aligned with Mr. Duke.

Terrible. I really hope this backfires on the JBE team, particularly in north LA. Would be great if it cost them those Abraham voters they need.

White democrats buying black "leaders" to push racism so that white democrats can stay in power?

No way! I refuse to believe it.

Last week Rispone was the second coming of Bobby Jindal, this week he’s the next David Duke.

Do Jindal and Duke have anything in common? Not really, but when you can’t brag on your candidate you have to do something.

I was wondering when BOLD would raise its ugly head. This is standard operating procedure for this bunch but they know how to gin up the turnout in Central City.

New Orleans politics is full of these acronym Organizations . Hell some of them would create adds to run against themselves in order to drive turnout. I remember when Morial's organization actually put out an add accusing Morial of some sort of subterfuge.

Louisiana voters, this is what your "conservative Democrat" governor John Bel Edwards thinks of you.

David Duke?? The only reason he is still relevant to "them" is they lack any new standard bearer to hang their white supreme dreams on.
