Our current version of crony capitalism isn’t working for them. That failure is obvious and plain to see. What isn’t obvious is a workable solution. So they are latching on to these repackaged policies of the past which failed long before their awareness stretches.

Better education would teach them that socialism is never the solution to hardship, but rather a generator of more of it. Or conversely, a better functioning political paradigm would eliminate the feeling that they were in need of rescue from hardship in the first place. Ideally we find a way to accomplish improvement in both.

Because they are drowning in student debt, can't afford to own a home, can barely afford rent on shoebox apartments, can't afford to get married, can't afford to have children, can't find a job that gives them a meaningful wage in the field they would like to work in.

The list goes on and millennials are becoming more convinced that if this is what capitalism has to offer them, then they want no part of it.

Baby boomers have done devastating and catastrophic damage to the reputation of capitalism.

Team players.

They win.

Adolescent mentality needs to feel independent.

Your gripe is with authoritarians and war.

The few examples only prove that resistance can mess up anything good.

1927 us/brit 100,000 man army invaded russia.

Germans killed 25 million in ww2.

Does that prove socialism cant work or does it say that if you have to put all spare resources in war you dont live well?

You chose a convenient moment to forget about Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot.

Oversight or agenda?

Ignorance or tool of the left?

You disgust me.

Multi-Part Answer:

1. Why do young people desire change? Combination of automation and globalism has destroyed the economy that built the US as the lone world superpower. There are far fewer paths to "work your way up" now than ever before.

2. Why socialism specifically? The government's decades long campaign to keep the population completely ignorant of monetary policy has come to fruition. Does anyone really believe that even 25% of voters know how large the government budget is, what it gets spent on, where the funds come from? Remember when AOC said we could pay the 30 trillion dollars for the Green New Deal by "just print it"? Public education at work, 100%. She isn't lying, she may not even be particularly stupid, she's literally just applying what she learned in school (nothing) to her preferred policy.

I'd say a lot of these folks probably had a hard time in the job market after the 2008 crash and they were saddled with record levels of student debt.

The job market took more than a few years to recover as well.

Then on top of that you add in the growth of social media which exposes people to an assortment of affluent lifestyles that are only obtainable by a very few rich people. Many think this is "normal" or they are deceived into thinking it's how everyone lives, i.e. always traveling to exotic locations, buying expensive clothing, items.

An insane amount of jealousy and hate stir and they want to blame someone.
