Hey y’all, is it common to be a fan of a team from another state?

I'm an LSU fan in Oklahoma, originally from California...

A lot of people in MS are closer to BR than State or Ole Miss
Hell, even Jackson is only 20-30 minutes closer to Starkville than it is to BR
It's a proximity thing for some over state allegiance

I was born and raised in Mississippi and am an LSU fan. My aunt used to live 8 minutes from the campus. I went to visit her one summer and she took me over to the campus and fell in love with LSU. I currently live 45 minutes from Ole Miss and 2 hours from MSU.

Several years ago I wore an LSU shirt on the Ship Island Ferry after football season was well underway. I definitely drew some sneers and snarls, even from the staff. It was fun! But then a couple years later I wore my purple and gold 'gator hater' shirt on the same ferry the weekend after Florida beat LSU in the CWS, and received some sympathetic comments.

I'm a tiger fan in Texas, and we moved so much when I was young that I can't really say that I'm from anywhere. By the time I was 9 I had lived in 6 different states from coast to coast.

I lived in Natchez Mississippi from 3rd grade through 5th grade and there were plenty of LSU fans there

An LSU fan from Georgia here.
Also- somehow now half of the folks living in Georgia are Alabama fans now-see them everywhere nowadays.
Also, LSU took 7584 out of state students in 2018. So out of state fans are probably a common occurrence.
