You do what you are most comfortable with.

No reason to second guess that being up 2 scores.

Yes, I was surprised to see us not under center and just take a knee to be honest

It does, though. Look back at the 2-pt conversion at the end of the Texas game for an example. There've been a couple more. Not many, but it's not as though we will never do it.

The exchange he and his center are not as familiar with at that point in this game.. Which would be under center, IMO.

Last year is irrelevant to this season.

What I love most about this LSU offense is how they don't stray away from what works. This is the most efficient offense I have ever witnessed. Why overthink it here being up 2 scores?

I am so tired of LSU playing scared. It's so nice to see them play comfortable and with so much confidence.

Last I checked, LSU is paying Ed $3.5m to make those decisions. And he is 6-0. And he has a QB in the Heisman discussion. And he has the most prolific offense in Tiger history. And. And. And.......
Ok to talk about it, but you get paid to do what you do best. So does Ed.

Florida had timeouts, LSU couldn’t take a knee to run the clock out. I think Mullen even decided not to call his last timeout, but they still had one left.

Primarily shotgun teams likely have more of a chance to fumble a snap when under center than in shotgun. We haven’t had a bad snap all year long in shotgun. Don’t overthink it.

Every coach makes millions. This doesn’t exempt them from making bad decisions.

And that’s all I’m saying. Every team does this at the end of games.

We couldn't kill the clock if we took a knee for three straight plays. We had to run plays that used some time and we didn't have room to do the kneel downs where the QB backs up and delays taking the knee.

Yes I thought the same. Let your captain finish a game like that one

No.

CEH was 5 to 10 yards behind Burrow as insurance.

Burrow, E, Brady, CEH, Cushenberry... they got this.

You don’t change anything. Comfort. What’s practiced. What they do every down whether up 100 or down 100 and every play in between.

I did say wtf at first. They were even handing off on the last series. As a long time football watcher you don’t see this too often but it worked. game over and we won so

The one where you force him to do something different than he had been doing all game.

You act as if Burrow never took a snap under center in his life.
I can guarantee that the victory formation is done in practice.

We put up 42 points in 48 plays on a very good defense, and you still find something to bitch about. I love this board.

You reading comprehension is bad if you characterize my OP as complaining.
I graduated with Ed and played ball with him. We are from the same home town and I’m a big fan of his. It was simply an observation.

but shouldn’t have Burrow been under center for the last snap?
let's see how that worked out for Arkansas in 1998

quote:

Ratliff’s explosive push into the backfield caused Burlsworth to step on Stoerner’s foot. Stoerner tried to balance himself with right hand. There was only one problem. That hand was holding the football. Stoerner lost his grip as he seemingly laid the ball on the ground.

To be fair, these OP's invite the responses by making a "SHOULD have" assertion rather than a "I WOULD have.." comment. The SHOULD implies there is a correct and incorrect choice.Either choice has a non-zero risk associated to it.

As an example - there are a great number of very successful coaches that WOULD have ran on 3rd and 16 against UT (on the road, up a TD, etc) and punted to pin them back. This coaching staff has a philosophy and are sticking with it.

Had you said "I WOULD have put Burrow under center", you would have had others making the points we did. But, it would not have been contentious because it is just a philosophical choice. Not a 'correct vs incorrect' statement.
