We are not pulling our troops out of Syria, we withdrew 50 people out of the way of an overwhelming Turkish assault. Our guys are good, but I doubt that 50 men are going to hold off 3 brigades of Turks moving in force.

This comes from an active duty LTC who is familiar with these things

I posted about this in another thread. From what I read, we moved 50-100 special ops out of the way. That's the only thing that has changed or is planned to be changed. The 1000 or so troops within Syria aren't leaving the country, at least at the moment.

I think the point is they're not likely to frick much with Americans. If those 50 Americans get slaughtered by the Turks, the Turks would have that repaid on them 25 fold at minimum and they know it.

Correct.

Turkey is a NATO country. It has been attacked during Kurdish incursions. Fairly simple.

The MSM/Dems are saying differently suddenly loving them some war zones.

Graham retweeted a top evangelist saying pray for Christians killed because of this...

God love Rand Paul.

So we haven't exited Syria and ended the endless wars, we just got out of the way and abandoned our Kurdish allies to the Turks. That sounds much better.

The Kurds wanted a Kurdistan.

Itll never happen in our lifetime without a SIGNIFICANT political loss to the US and MANY MORE American deaths.

GTFO of ths Middle East.

Now.

Forever.

Sounds fair but I'd put the odds at 3-2 for our guys

You missed the entire point. With US people on the ground, Turkey would not invade because of political reasons. Abandoning our most loyal ME Allies along with Israel is the BIG ISSUE. The Kurds defeated ISIS on the ground and lost 11,000 Peshmerger soldiers in doing so. We fricked them plain and simple.

I agree.

The politics-fueled dishonestly coming from our "media" is disgusting.

ANYTHING to discredit this administration. Just throw it up and hope it sticks.

Then you misunderstand US power if you think the assault was going to happen with an American presence.

Further this is a nice pivot from the end the endless wars farcical justification. No troops withdrawn, still there and now 3000 more to the region to defend the Saudi thug regime!
