Truth.
A reckoning will have to happen eventually. Doubtful basketball is what touches it off, but it's ineluctable.

Wait, weren't you also talking about how it's a numbers game regarding the Chinese market RE: NBA business?
Who do you think dominates the social media sphere, man? It's been a CRAZY hot topic on social media if you've been paying even a modicum of attention.

Well when that reckoning happens, it will be mass hysteria. It will be a political and financial firestorm that will make 2016 election seem tame.
There are some past and possibly present political persons that do not want those skeletons out of the vault they are in.

It doesn’t appear limited to basketball given everything happening in the gaming community.
People saying something and then getting the same harsh reaction that China has been having will end up spreading the awareness of this to yet another subculture within the US.

False. Hong Kong has been in my news feed for weeks. Planet Money did a podcast on them like a month ago.
Your ignorance on the matter isn’t a reflection of anyone’s awareness but your own.

This is my thing. They actually have REAL oppression staring them right in the face and they are cowering away because it affects their dollar.
I love every minute of this. I actually got to watching Southpark again because of it and let me tell you this is a recipe for an all time great season of Southpark.

China is a developing market with incredible financial growth potential. That's why companies are like moths to flame with China.
I'm not sure there will ever be a reckoning. As China develops into a bigger and bigger market, there's more and more incentive for companies to make nice with them and overlook issues.

This is so wrong it's funny. Just because your handful of dumbass friends on facebook don't post about it doesn't mean it isn't front and center in the news.

Indeed.
The reckoning will have to occur within the American public/commercial sector, and it'll have to be organic.

If there were citizens critical of our governments hypocrisy & a political price to be paid.........but there seems to be selective outrage over international human rights.

Because this is a sports message board and it’s the first sports related story to it? Surely you aren’t this dumb
So did you complain when the games in China were scheduled and once the crackdown on Hong Kong began to happen?
You know when they sent troops in with rubber bullets to get people out of the Airport or when they started beating the fire out of people in the street protesting for self governance? Did you complain then about China and the NBA?
Surely you aren't this dumb.

You are looking at it the wrong way.
It’s not about what China is doing in HK, it is about the NBA selling out to China at the expense of stuff we take for granted in the US.
Freedom of speech is cherished in this country. Being told by another country that we don’t have the right to talk about something will piss people off because of the American mindset of not taking shite from other countries.

allowing them such legitimate sway over other sociopolitical commentary (since the NBA has made themselves about that of late).
