Thank you to the stupid fricking "Conservatives" who voted for JBE because Vitter fricked a woman who wasn't his wife. You should be forced to support these 376 people until they move out of the state for a new job.

Is there any connection from the steel plant in Zachary that closed?

Many of those went to a steel plant in TX. Hope these guys will be able to find work asap.

but I thought those steel tariffs had hiked prices and made things better for domestic steel companies??

From what I read, they purchase recycled steel from China so any price increase would have been a negative for them.

Meanwhile all the local scrap metal places are filling up barges and shipping it across the ocean. Strange world we live in.

Do you really think this is all JBE’s fault? Louisiana’s economy has been in the shitter since the 1970s

Yeah but Vitter obviously has some major issues, ie he cannot control himself. He had a similar issue with hookers in 2002 that he swept under the rug until the 2007 incident came up. I think it is funny that he apologized, like he would have ever stopped had he not been caught red handed.

quote:

Vitter was first publicly linked to prostitutes in 2002, when Vincent Bruno, a Republican activist in Jefferson Parish, told a radio audience that Vitter had consorted in New Orleans with a call girl named Wendy Cortez.
The New Orleans-based Louisiana Weekly reported Bruno’s claim. Vitter was then a congressman whose district mostly included Jefferson and St. Tammany parishes.
A month later, Vitter appeared on a New Orleans radio show hosted by Jeff Crouere, who is known for his conservative views. Caller David Bellinger, who styles himself “the Flaming Liberal,” asked Vitter about Cortez. Vitter said he was the victim of “vicious rumors” that he dismissed as “lies.”
A second caller asking him about Cortez led Vitter to label Bruno “a thug and a liar.”

David Vitter Murky Past

Its also funny to think that a Governor controls the state's economy. LA is fricked, and has been fricked, when oil prices go in the shitter (the last 5 years). No companies want to move to NOLA bc of another Katrina. You poli-baws are all like each other, no matter liberal or conservative.

The dumbass cons should have wheeled out something better than pathetic david vitter and they would have for sure won

It's not his fault but I don't think he's been a particularly good jobs governor. He seems like he's more of a status quo type when we need radical changes.

I wasn't a fan of Vitter but who cares about a politician's sex life? All I care about is public policy. The governor could bang a different hooker nightly and I wouldn't give a shite.

Well considering he is married with four kids and a self-proclaimed Christian, he just seems incredibly hypocritical and will lie to the public to get what he wants, which is not a good look for someone running for Governor.

Kinda like what JBE did to get elected?

As well as the threats to shut down TOPS?

As well as the threat to shut down LSU Football??

Nah, Louisiana's economy was peaking until 1985. It’s been in the shitter ever since with a few good years since then, but nothing special

He never threatened to shut any of that down. I believe he was outlining a worst case scenario in regards to the state's budget shortfall.

You think DV would have been a better gov than JBE? The Steel Plant in Laplace would still be open if DV is gov?

Right. No one Governor is responsible for companies leaving (as they have since before I was born).

Which is exactly what they have done in this cycle and in effect given JBE a free pass for a second term. Typical Republican Party. They get shot at and missed but shite at and hit. No way in hell those two rookies beat him but this place doesn’t understand that.

I think he's going to win again too. And everything in Louisiana will remain about the same.
