It's official ... LHSAA select schools turn down option to play in December's Prep Classic, numbers and details in story posting now #LHSAA @AdvocateSports

ETA: so I guess the selects playing their state championships at ULL is a done deal at this point

A total of 39 select football schools voted to not play in the Prep Classic, while 32 voted in favor of playing in the annual event, according results of a vote by select school administrators that the LHSAA released Thursday afternoon. Of the schools that voted against participating in the Prep Classic, 14 are past participants.

The biggest divide was in Division I with nine of the 12 schools voting against playing in the Prep Classic. The tally was eight for and eight against in Division II, six for, eight against in Division III and 15 for, 14 against in Division IV.

The (mostly) New Orleans schools voted overwhelmingly to not play in New Orleans

I said ULL b/c I've heard that ULL is basically handing the selects the keys to Cajun Field at no charge... don't know what Tulane & SELA are offering to them

That’s it. Select schools have voted and will not participate in the Prep Classic at the Superdome. #NELApreps

If Tulane doesn’t open the doors for them then they’re just retarded. Yulman is perfect for this type of event!

Really screwing the selects on the times hasn’t helped this situation

Yeh did they really think fricking over the selects with scheduling was a good idea?

It never ceases to amaze me how shortsided the public schools can be in this state

I remember the principal from Many crying after the vote to split and some public principals acting like they won the Super Bowl. Little did they know they were setting up their own demise

Hope it was worth it.

How is this leading to the demise of the public schools?

Isn't that the weekend of conference championship games and the fcs playoffs?
I don't see how any of those schools can do this.

They'll have to change it to Church's or something since it's only public schools now.

this was the only real bullet the selects had.......

if corporate sponsor bolts.. then it gets interesting...

to the uninformed... public schools are doing fine in the split.. select schools are taking a hit...

So New Orleans schools will speak for select schools then move it to a venue like Tulane Stadium?

Sucks for teams who aren't within driving distance. And for anyone who wants to park for the game.

Because if the Selects are successful then they may truly breakaway and set up there own rules, rules that will not align with the non-selects ideas. What will be curious is what will the public select schools with a true split. Lawyers will be feasting at that time.

Because they are in real danger of losing major sponsors (which could lead to also losing the Dome) This could lead to severely reduced revenue for public schools (many of which are cash strapped).
