You are delusional. A coach can help, but the player is either good or he's not. No coach can make Brandon Harris good.

People also need to consider Johnson and Finley ont even probably have a chance to start until 2022 here, their 3rd seasons here.

Brennan will be just a RS junior next year and senior in 2021. So they will get to redshirt and learn for 2 years. Biggest thing I can see with Finley is needing coaching really bad. He's got the physical tools but super inconsistent footwork and delivery. He's trying to be taught spread shotgun offense by a coach who has done the veer for decades.

Looking to 2021, which it looks like the worst we'll do is Nussmeier, best maybe Caleb Williams, there will be a lot of competition in 2022 for the starting job between Parrish, Johnson, Finley, Nussmeier/Williams and potentially a transfer sprinkled in there.

QB recruiting is such a hit or miss and impossible thing to predict that I just want numbers at the position every year...1 of 4 will probably contribute. You can’t afford to not sign two every year in my opinion...2015 Justin McMillan 2016 Lindsey Scott 2017 Brennan and Lowell Nar. 2018 none...2019 Parrish... Good lawd that’s pitiful...

And yet the same schools each year seem to have elite QB play - Oklahoma, Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Southern Cal, etc.

There's no reason why LSU can't be part of that group. But QB recruiting absolutely has to improve, otherwise this season really will end up being an anomaly.

Overall, those are terrible numbers. These are elite QBs?

So pray that Brennan stays healthy next year and that we actually recruit TOP QBs for 2021 that can walk in and start right away.

I think most schools hare a lot more about camps.

Some high school coaches aren't great, and they aren't going to put their talented palyers ina good position.

TJ Finnley has a big arm, and throws some nice passes.

But people blast through his line every play and he is 2 feet taller than most of his receivers.

You do know Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray and Jalen Hurts are all transfers...They are not at the school that signed them out of high school. Ohio state current starting QB a transfer, their 5 star high profile QB signee Martel transferred to Miami. USC hasn’t done anything at QB other than Darnold the past ten years despite being in the most talent rich QB producing part of the country..Alabama did struggle getting a highly rank qb that would produce until Hurts and he was replaced by Tua and transferred..Jake Coker Alabama 2016 National championship QB was a transfer...they have won with defense not qb play...These successful programs aren’t dominating with just guys they evaluated and recruited out of high school.

I wish we could flip that Tennesse commit. He can't possibly want to still go there.

Neither one of these guys Johnson or Finely is Branden
"head case" Harris. It's been said a million times that Johnson is a good QB on a really shitty team and Finely is raw but a lot of upside and talent.
IMO coach Brady will get the very best out of both, will it be enough time will tell but I feel better with Brady doing the development with both.

Keep an eye on walk on AJ Aycock. I notice he is involved in getting in the play signals on the sidelines along with Parrish. As a walk on this is significant so the staff must see something in this kid. I watched his high school highlights and he looks impressive to me. Big, can run and can throw.

All yall arse holes are quick to bash Finley and Johnson based on their high school stats. Myles Brennan threw for crazy numbers during high school and is still on the fricking bench. So that tells me one thing, none of that shite matters when they enroll in college.

Every quarterback has drops. He has receivers with Power 5 offers. Narrative is getting old.

No offense, but wasn't this the rally that Burrow fanatics said last year on why his cmp% was bad and why he didn't have the numbers vs top teams?

At the same time the NFL looked straight past Josh Allen's awful cmp% stating it was because tons of drops and he had "awful WRs".

Doesn't matter if guys have power 5 offers if they have drop problems. The dynamic WR from Iowa St last year had serious drop problems, but he also made some insane plays.

Right now we won't know what we have until we get these guys on board. With that said, I personally liked what I saw in Johnson's highlights last year more, as he could run and didn't look bad throwing.

Neither of those guys averaged 37% in high school.

37% is bad on the peewee level, damn

His receivers aren't THAT bad. Will be tough to teach this kid accuracy.

I would like to admit on here that I might've been wrong about Haynes King as well. WTF happened to that kid.

Posted this in another thread, but thought it had relevance here:

quote:

Joe Burrow's junior and senior year stats combined from high school:

468/652 (72%), 8,177 yards, 110 TDs and 9 INTs.

and sprinkled in 219 carries for 1,231 yards (5.6 YPC) and 14 TDs.
