our STATE sales tax is actually middle of the pack nationally.
We rank just below TN. We have fricked property tax structure that forces the legislature to go the sales tax route or income tax route. we really need to stop comparing ourselves to TX and FL. we have 4.5 million people and they have 35 and 25 million people and different resources and attraction irrespective of governmental crap.

Agreed. We have one of the lowest property tax rates in the country. That is largely made up by local sales taxes.

In La, the government is constitutionally required to balance the budget. No governor in the history of the state has ran a budget deficit. So there is no reason to crown JBE a hero, considering he voted for 6 out of 8 Jindal budgets. If JBE is such a budget whiz, why did he agree with Jindal admin spending 75% of his political career?

Then why hasn't he mentioned it?
uh, the OP link is to Abraham’s website. If it was bad they would have never released it.
If i’m Comrade Edwards and I’m getting that same poll result, I would be sweating profusely.

They didn't really "release it". I couldn't find it directly from their website. Found it from a link on ballotopedia.

If the 2019 election for Governor of Louisiana were held today, and the candidates were just the Democrat John Bel Edwards and the Republican Ralph Abraham, for whom would you vote?
John Bel Edwards: 48%
Ralph Abraham: 44%
Undecided: 8%
That's actually a bad sign for the guv. If he cant get to 50% after 4 years, against a guy who has never ran statewide, then its not likely those undecideds are going to break for him in the run-off

1. JBE is vulnerable only because we have so many mindless Repubs in this state who will vote for any Repub over any Democrat regardless.
BUT..
2. I predict that JBE will get 51.5% on Oct 12.
3. Louisiana has one of the lowest individual tax burdens in the country. We are 45th. Texas is 46th.

Only sales tax got raised
Wrong
Phone tax, alcohol tax, rental taxes, cigarette taxed were all increased.
He added about 1.5 Billion in new taxes (over 15% increase in state revenues) to fix the crisis he crested (putting old ladies on the street, canceling LSU football, etc,),
The economy immediately tanked and we’ve seen an outward migration of our people since then.

Interesting because I’m looking at a press release dated Sept 12, 2:56 PM from the Abraham campaign with a link to the OP document.

The truth is the JBE butt kissers in the media ignored it. Good catch.

Not really.
You’re skirting reality with fancy word selection like JBE promoting HIS great unemployment numbers. He has lost jobs but he has run Louisiana workers out of state at a higher rate. A lot less workers looking for less jobs makes a great statistic but a real suck-arsed reality.
In your case you inserted individual into the total Louisiana tax burden.
According to the U.S. Census last available figures, in 2015, Louisiana was the highest Per Capita government (state and local) spending in the Old South.
Louisiana $9,037, Kentucky $8,920, Mississippi $8,853, South Carolina $8,698, Virginia $8,611, Alabama $8,345, Arkansas $8,189, Texas $8,169, Tennessee $8,120, North Carolina $8,031, Oklahoma $7,878, Florida $7,610, and Georgia $7,263.
Louisiana is a high tax-high spending-big government Southern state. We also have a lower Per Capita income than all those states except in order: South Carolina, Arkansas, Alabama, Kentucky, and of course Mississippi.
We need a new government framework. We should look at the more successful states 2 Florida (2nd lowest taxes), 3 Texas (7th), 4 Tennessee (6th), and 5 Oklahoma (3rd) in Per Capita income. 1 Virginia is the outlier because of Federal salaries of DC.
Himmm.... Texas with middle taxes and all others below average taxes (6th, 3rd, and 2nd), I wonder....

Not questioning your honesty.
Figures don’t lie, but lie tellers figure. And confusion confuses. Let’s try to keep it clear.
For example income tax, 13th lowest+ property tax 8th lowest+ General sales taxes 14th lowest=????? There is no way to tell. Income tax of $612 is incalculably more than Texas and Florida who pay 0. Also business taxes and government fees and fines greatly influence an individual’s economic well-being.
That’s why I used the Per Capita state and local government expenditures. In Louisiana government expenditures roughly equal government revenues. And despite fancy categories, government revenues are basically taxes. Really, paying for a license plate sticker is a tax despite its official designation as a fee.
