im not supporting or denying the claim, but i have no doubt that an nfl DC could get in a college practice in his own stadium

Story I heard was he just told Saban/Smart to work on their speed option D which isn’t anything groundbreaking considering it was like our only trick up our sleeve.

Makes sense since he and Belichick are butt buddies

Did he also cause Miles to be braindead when he refused to insert Lee?

Lee was already a no-go vs Bama; they tore him up the first game. Would have been dead in the water in the Dome, too.

Basically, Bama was the better team, with the better offense. Game 1, our defense held them out of FG range. Our O line couldn't run-block in a prostyle scheme against them, and couldn't protect Lee in the pocket, and their secondary was baiting and squeezing our WRs. Les had one trick up his sleeve, that was Jefferson and the option. It worked. It wasn't going to again, not with a month to get ready for it.
Our defense did almost as good a job, but they were out there alone all game long, and eventually they bent.

Bowl rematches suck. Most of the time the loser wins the rematch, and the few times it didn't happen the teams were mismatched. The loser knows what to fix, the winner has to guess what else might work.

Gregg Williams is a monumental POS and in my estimation is the reason the Saints get consistently fricked by the NFL. They sold their soul to the Devil to win that one Super Bowl. Down vote away

I don’t believe this actually happened

What's hard to believe? Saban is a protege of Belichick, the coach who was busted for spygate.

Those two coaches cheat every which way they can. One gets caught every now and then. The other has a free pass from the NCAA.

Yeah it strains credulity to suggest an NFL DC would take time away from prepping for the playoffs to spy on a college teams bowl practices. Everyone knew that LSU didn’t have any tricks up their sleeve.

In that case the most obvious explanation was the right one. We played a great team in a rematch who had revenge on their mind, meanwhile we had Les and Stud running the four play playbook from Tecmo Bowl I.

I knew the moment they announced the rematch that Bama would win. I remember the day of the championship it was overcast and ugly outside and I just knew it was over. Dangelo peterson was pissed because he said we practice a lot of spread but did none of that in the game.

Hard to argue with this. Precisely why you shouldn't have to play them again

Imagine kirby’s Surprise if Greg told him that Zach was taking every rep.

Greater chance to win was for zach to take every practice snap that bowl season.

I’m sorry, but that’s the truth if you know anything about football.

Although not much difference in a 10 percent chance to win over a 5 percent chance so probably not worth the increased win percentage of only 5 percent to lose an entire year of eligibility.

So Greg Williams told Saban we were running the toss dive and short side option?

Big help.

Same

went to ESPN.com, saw the rematch announced

Their front page had a Bama player laying on a field doing a snow angel in Bama confetti

We all knew ESPN wanted Bama to be the national brand of college football and were going to push it no matter the cost and gave Saban the biggest podium to lobby for it relentlessly despite saying on record previously a team who doesn't win their conference has no business playing for a national championship.

I stepped out my door to get on the streetcar downtown to pregame and the mood was just less than enthused.

So Williams told Saban about the 3 plays we would run on them?

LSU game plan was shite. Miles lost the game before it started. That game is where Miles got exposed .

Saban asked Greg Williams to go to LSU practice and he told saban everything we were practicing for the championship game.

Saban must have thought Miles was tricking him when GW came back and said, “They are running the exact same shite.”

“So yeah Nick go ahead and work on that toss dive, and polish up on that option and you’re good”

“Wait they’re not doing anything else”

“Nah pretty much...pretty much just that...maybe some extremely slow developing low percentage pass plays as well...look out for those”

This is false, Kirby smart said so himself.

Why would Kirby say it was true? . Serious question.
