What are some good package bows to start out with? All I hunt is public land, and guns are getting too easy.

Diamond Infinite Edge Pro is another.

I agree with the diamond recs. Also check out the bears. You can get a package at any of the BP or Cabellas for $5-600 give or take and go kill something

Go to an archery shop and shoot several. Find the one that feels right to you.

Find you an elite synergy on ebay. Smoothest bow I've ever shot. Got one last year for $400. NIB. They don't make them anymore but you can still find them.

Look at Mission by Mathews. My son has had one for years and I bought one 2 years ago. I don't regret it.

Bowtech Carbon Icon DLX which is just an unreal deal!!! I mean bow dealers buy the bow and take it apart to sell the the accessories individually because they can make good money. If you don't want the DLX because the price is too steep go with the R.A K. package and work your way up with accessories as he gets involved in shooting. By far the best bow for money and quality.

I would recommend buying a used bow. Find out what your draw length is and know what kind of poundage you pull. I always find deals on folks wanting to upgrade to the latest and greatest. I have bought some really good bows in the past by finding a year or two old bow that is in great shape.

Figure out drawlength and comfortable poundage. Try a few and figure out what type of bow feels good to you.
Go to AT classifieds and look for something a couple of years old.
I picked up an elite synergy last year for 330. Way better bow than a entry level from mission or bear. Plus you can pick up a little nicer sight/stabalizer.

When I got into archery originally, I got a barely used Hoyt XTEC off AT. I don’t hunt anymore but it was a perfect way to get introduced. I got it for $400 and it was closer to $750 new IIRC.

PSE makes pretty solid fast and quiet package bows.
