Joe's final TD to Jefferson was better than any pass Haskins made last year

Up front, I am a Buckeye fan and I love both Haskins and Joe. Until yesterday, I thought of Haskins as First Round talent and Joe as 2-4th round talent in NFL. Now it appears that Joe is a First Round talent.

The final TD pass was amazing. Joe was running forward, was jostled when he threw, yet managed to keep his eyes on the receiver and hit the receiver right on the button. All of this in a very high pressure situation. Much congrats and respect to Joe and LSU. Hard to think of any passes in such a big moment that surpassed what Joe did.

Would also add that for the whole game, Joe was throwing bullets in exactly the right places. He made one 30 yard throw off of his back foot and hit the receiver. Extremely impressive.

As an OSU fan, I very much regret that OSU couldn't have had both Haskins and Burrow be starting qbs in slightly different eras, but the timing was all wrong for both of them to play at OSU. So, LSU has benefited.

Very happy for Joe who has done everything the right way.

It’s early in the season to call him first round, but appreciate it

We are grateful to the Buckeye nation for Joe. He’s got everything a coach wants in a QB, he’s got it in spades. A fighter and a leader, a cool customer that just Ioves the game.

It is a little early. However, it takes real talent to throw bullets and hit receivers in stride. See this link where Joey Galloway and Jesse Palmer break down Joe's work and are highly complimentary. Galloway said that Joe was throwing the ball in exactly the right spot where receivers could catch it. LINK

That play was amazing. If he doesn’t make that play, we probably lose. His ability to find just enough time and room to get that throw off was ridiculously good.

Burrow is getting a lot of credit around here these days. But honestly, he hasn’t been given enough credit for that play. That play was unbelievable.

You are coming from pretty much the same place as me.

Yep. You need to see it a few times...or slowed down...to truly follow how he moved to make that pass.

I was initially hopeful that Joe would pick from where he left off at the end of last year.

However, he appears to be playing at a much higher level so far. He is definitely playing at a first round level.

His pocket presence on that play was incredible. No doubt that has been overlooked. He made an NFL play there. Big time player

Appreciate to have Joe Burrow from OSU. Do you know the Buckeyes have another good QB that we can use?

It is bizarre (but awesome) that of all things to have two fan bases get along is a transfer QB.

I wonder if Bama is cheering on Hurts at OU, serious question.

Its apparent Joe and the receivers have been working out all off season. Their timing is excellent.

Great post. He is a great QB, like one of a kind great.

I say he has been this good all along, it's just more visible because of the changes in offensive scheming.

You got me thinking and I did a quick search. Saban and Hurts' former teammates support him. It appears the reaction has been positive, which is good to see. LINK /

I watched that single play about 25 or 30 times.

The amount of things that had to go exactly as they did for that play to work was staggering. It was unbelievable. And there wasn't much of a window for JB to even see the route, but he had obviously practiced it so much that he knew right where the receiver would be, and let the ball fly at literally the only moment that a window was there.

It was unbelievable in real time, but upon several times rewatching, it has left me speechless.

I got news for everybody - we threw the ball 9 times fewer than Texas and only had 1 fewer completion.

Joe threw a bunch of NFL quality passes. Do I think Haskins is a better athlete? Probably. Do I think Burrow is a better QB? Absolutely.

I have no idea what the decision making process was to go with Haskins over Burrow.
