IN THE WEEKS LEADING UP TO THE 2018 ELECTION, BIAS IN GOOGLE’S SEARCH RESULTS MAY HAVE SHIFTED UPWARDS OF 78.2 MILLION VOTES TO THE CANDIDATES OF ONE POLITICAL PARTY

Meh this is still speculation. I have a hard time believing this. The bias in an algo doesn't prevent people who truly want to understand an issue from seeking multiple sources or two sides of an issue.

If Google loads up the First Page with only one side, it's only the smartest of the researchers who'll get it, and look further. Most will just assume a consensus and stop.

Google will get plenty of help from the Chinese next year. Parscale is out ahead of this stuff. They'll bring the heat before the vote. Of course, the Left will scream...something!

There’s a lot of people that vote that have no interest in researching any particular issue and have only a cursory exposure to any political issues through the msm, tv ads or in random ads online. It’s easily believable that people that aren’t specifically seeking info online are seeing only pro- dem/lib results.

when one doesn't depend on scientific analysis or legitimate methods, everything is possible. Just another example of right wing idiocy at its most common.

I have that in common with the OP who is making an equivalency between a US company, with 1st Amendment rights, influencing voters with a foreign government trying to influence voters.

"Muh Google!"

It's fun to watch as so-called 'Conservatives' attack US business interests at home and abroad. They're like the Progressives of old.

That’s exactly what it does. By only showing the views of one side and burying opposing opinions, it fools people into believing there is only one side.

Impressive, but I would hate to think that many people were that weak minded to be influenced so easily for such an important decision
