Eastern/Western Washington. My wife grew up on a cherry farm in Eastern and everything is Sirius XM Prime Country 24/7. Western Washington is, well, Seattle.

Pretty much every state is culturally segmented, especially in states with major metropolitan areas. Maybe the only states that aren't are places like Rhode Island, Vermont, Kansas, Maine(?), Indiana, etc.

What's up with Alaska? Care to expound? I've only done a cruise there

Southeast is like Seattle, San Francisco
South central is typically conservative, business friendly
Western Alaska is mainly Native villages, very poor.
Interior is a bunch of Bush rats.

It's as divided a state as you'll find. We are having a political civil war right now.

North of Florida is a whole nother world from south of Florida.

south florida, miami specifically might as well be a separate country. Spanish is nearly the predominate language and everyone seems to originate from somewhere in the Caribbean.

Kentucky is at least 5 or 6 different states in one.

1. Louisville and surrounding areas
2. Central KY surrounding Lexington
3. Northern Kentucky that thinks it's Cincinnati
4. Eastern Kentucky
5. Western Kentucky
6. Possibly Southern Kentucky lying between I-65 and I-75

no. West is Mts. Forest. Ski.

Central mass is millions of republicans.

Metro boston is the ocean coastal counties. + Southern new hampshire is also metro boston.

An (obvious) great example of this is North Louisiana and South Louisiana. One really can't argue the disconnect between the two.
Louisiana's areas of divergence are much more complex than simply North & South.

Acadiana, Florida Parishes, NOLA, SW LA are all within "South Louisiana" and all very dissimilar to each other.

And Franklinton & Madisonville within the Florida Parishes are drastically different from each other.

There's lotsa layers on the onion of a State like Louisiana where historically there was little population inflow after they ran the Injuns out.

Very surprised nobody has mentioned Texas yet. It's like 4 completely different states culturally. Houston/Dallas, Austin, McAllen, and the rest of West Texas are all completely different.

North GA (really metro ATL) and south GA (including Macon and everything south of it) are two very different areas, culturally and geographically.

Washington has a very interesting dynamic. East and South of the mountains, it might as well be a southern state. Lots of conservatives. West of the mountains, you get more of your liberals the closer you get to Seattle.

Another great example is Northern California vs. Southern California. While both are overflowing with weirdos, the two parts of the state are very different culturally and in terms of scenery.

I would say the rural/urban divide in California is at least as significant if not moreso. You could probably say that about most states. Nola has more in common with San Francisco than it has with DeQuincy
