What are some of the more culturally segmented and divided states out there?

An (obvious) great example of this is North Louisiana and South Louisiana. One really can't argue the disconnect between the two.

Another great example is Northern California vs. Southern California. While both are overflowing with weirdos, the two parts of the state are very different culturally and in terms of scenery.

What are some other states out there that are divided? Florida? The Florida panhandle is definitely different than the southern portion of Florida? Tennessee? Memphis and the Mississippi delta are drastically different than the Smoky Mountain region of East Tennessee. Michigan? Colorado?

West Tennessee, central Tennessee, and eastern Tennessee may as well be three different states.

That's the first that came to mind. Memphis is different than Nashville. Nashville is different than Chattanooga. Chattanooga is different than Knoxville. All of those are different than Bristol or Johnson City.

Good one.

What about Massachusetts? It's such a small state, and all I really know is Boston. Is Western Mass just a Boston suburb?

Mississippi

Coastal Mississippi is culturally different than central/N. Mississippi.

Coastal - Catholic, seafood, vice
Central/N. - Baptist and Ag.
