We lost a big Tiger fan last night

My PawPaw lost his battle with lung cancer this morning around 12:30. He was die hard Saints, LSU football, and LSU baseball fan. He is the main family member that got me interested in LSU athletics when I was kid. He was a life long smoker, so he had a deep, booming voice that earned him the nickname "Frog". One of the many things I'll carry with me about him is his voice. Anytime when talking about an a team playing LSU or the Saints, or a team or player he could not stand, that booming voice would always say the same thing in the same tone: "They can kiss my arse"; followed immediately by a long drag.
ETA: Can't believe I neglected to mention this cool story about my PawPaw. When I was born, he was in Las Vegas for a work related golf event. He was the foreman of the lumber yard at Georgia Pacific in Port Hudson, LA. He would constantly get asked to do this or do that by companies like Cat, John Deere, etc. in order to sway him to get GP to use their heavy equipment. Anyway, so he's at this golf tournament and my mom calls his hotel and gives him the news of my arrival. Obviously he felt guilty that he missed it. Well there was also some big sporting convention Vegas and he went to see what it was all about. There were tons of big time athletes signing things. So he decided to make up for missing my birth by getting me a gift. I call this gift my "killer souvenir". When my buddies come over I ask them if they want to see my "Killer Souvenir", sounds strange so of course they are interested. It is a football signed by The Juice himself: O.J. Simpson. I was born in 1990 so obviously this is pre-murder O.J. His signature is huge on the football, covering nearly 1/4 of the panel on one side of the laces. I'll keep it in my family for as long as I can.
Thank y'all for the kind words, encouragement, and prayers.
He will be missed.

So sorry, it’s tough to lose a family member, and real tough if they were a big part of your football experience right before the season starts.
I lost my Dad who I spent many of times sharing LSU football games and discussions the same way. When I felt myself missing him during the season ( or any other time) I would just talk to him and remember the good times.
My Dad passed a few years ago, still miss him but now I accept it and still have our memories that I made with him. Hope this helps some. Prayers sent.

Was your grandpa an iron worker by any chance?
ETA: R.I.P., hope the tigers give him lots to cheer about this year.
