What’s your solution?
I'm usually reduced to saying I would accept a complete cold turkey ending to the War on Drugs as a sufficient response to all of these complaints.
Excluding economics and just focusing on the national spirit/soul, I would also settle for the populace just having a less bullshitty version of its own (pretty recent) national history being the norm.

I agree with you on this. It's not the kids fault. It's no different than the kids named Braeden Brantley or Trapper by white parents.

Yep, that did happen. It was horrible. Are certain people oppressed today? As bad as you want to believe it is, it isn't. You fall in the same line people who can't see the forest for the trees. You're still making excuses.

I don't think you know what redlining means.... They wouldn't loan to blacks in certain areas in order to explicitly segregate areas. Since you can't force people to move, it's take decades if not generations for this injustice to be unraveled.
That makes no sense at all. Segregation is illegal. It doesn't require generations to unravel.

I was able to go to LSU, a college they would have never been allowed to attend when they could have.

It seems some don't share you sentiment. The past is but the past. It can never be changed, only learned from. Hopefully

Sounds like if you can do it, anyone should be able to do it. No matter the skin tone.
The argument is no longer that it can't be done.
The argument is the level of difficulty... especially in relation to those with privilege.

Because you don't have to actually prove anything. Only show snippets of possible evidence that may show some racism, then assert it is ingrained but is so subtle that it's just become the accepted norm and something needs to be done about it even though they can't demonstrate it actually exists.
sort of like climate change.

We were? I wasn't alive before 72. What does what you just stated have to do with the present?

Your success story is good to read. You are a very good example of how doing things the right way can open doors.
I am not denying that your parents and grandparents had institutional barriers, many impossible to overcome. It makes me very angry and upset that our nation’s govt either directly played a role in the oppression or stood by and did nothing to stop it.
But this is a multifaceted issue. It’s worthy of examination to see if some modern day disparities between races can be attributed to culture and behavior.

Those people are bad faith trolls, you shouldn't engage with them. As I said already, we've made tremendous progress and we should be proud... but we can also point out and be able to criticize where we fall short.

Here we go, the old privilege excuse. Did you have privilege? You seemed to make it.
Can it be more difficult for some, absolutely. Can it still be done though? Yes, it depends on how bad someone wants it. Those that succeed don't make excuses.

What privilege ? My dad being responsible and being in his children's lives?
That's a privilege ?

Agree with you and yes, we should be able to. No person or society will ever be perfect, no matter how bad someone wants it to be.

Privilege is a copout.
I couldnt get any kind of education assistance because my parents made too much money and they wouldnt help me. Life isnt fair, play the cards you're dealt and do the best you can with what you have which it looks like you have so I salute you for it.

If black people paid back their loans like whites and Asians there would be no red lining. Banks aren't racist. They want to make money.

Ageism has zero to do with race. Doesn't matter is races are equally affected. Race had nothing to do with it.

I agree, it's never just one thing.... Black culture has it's problems, I know , I've lived it. I've seen it's best and it's worst.
Some things I've experienced like our "crabs in the barrel" mentality can be traced directly back to the psychological imprints of slavery. It's a well documented connection.
But some things, are just inexcusable and inexplicable.
