Even for optics reasons he was going to be our OC this year and his salary basically capped the salary for the PGC.

the same Gus Malzahn whos been on the hot seat for like 4 years now and whos biggest offseason "news" was NFL draft scouts complaining that Auburn WRs didn't know a route tree from a hole in the ground?

The same Malzahn who took a team with Nick Marshall at QB to the BCS game?

im not a Malzahn as a HC guy, but the guy is an upper echelon play caller. Except when he plays coach O

He is basically a HS coach who has had above average success in the freaking SEC. 2 or 3 wins against bama too.

And sure, there are exceptions. But if the OC is strong, he's likely to get HC offers after a couple seasons.

This is why I'm so glad we hired Ensminger as the OC. We never have to worry about someone hiring him away for a HC job.

If we hired an accomplished and proven OC, and we had a good offense that helped us win games, that would totally suck. We'd always have to be looking over our shoulder to see if somebody was going to poach him. I'd rather have a mediocre OC that keeps us in the stone age, but in return, we never have to be worried about hiring a new OC.

We'll see in 2 weeks and 3 days. IMO, this transition with the old guard bringing along the young buck is the best possible scenario.

Further, I think another year or two with co-OCs would be wise and productive. A ton of an OCs duties have zero to do with football. Let E teach Brady the ropes.

I don’t hate the scenario.

Obviously not my dream scenario, but I am excited.

If you accept that E wasn’t going anywhere it’s pretty good

I agree. Hiring someone unproven and having him trained by a guy that has been a world beater as an OC is the best possible scenario. This is a much better approach than hiring an OC that has run his own offense with success in the past.

The co-OC route would be even better. Since Ensminger is one of the best OC's in the country, why would we ever let him go? This way we would have two of the best OC's in the country on the staff simultaneously.

I've said this before on here. Even if someone were to think Ensminger sucks, there's still plenty of the day to day organizational types of things he can teach Brady. A man doesn't employed that long to not be able to teach his young replacement a bunch of stuff.

but if you're being honest here (and you won't), there is not much in Brady's past that says he's....

2 years at Penn State.
2 years with the Saints.

Lot to learn there.

Yes, indeed, there is. But you haven't dug deep enough to find it.

Take a deep breath. Wait a couple weeks or so, and try not to blow-up all your football cred in the meantime.

I dug a hole to China and still haven't found anything on Brady running his own offense successfully. Must have started digging in the wrong spot.

Dominant in that the recent National Champs have all run it. Most other programs have not yet switched over. Ohio St switched in '18. Michigan is making the switch in '19. Many programs are still clinging to their old systems, but their HCs will be fired soon enough

Depends on how a guy uses his post-grad time. He could chase co-eds and become a killer beer-pong expert. Or he could achieve PhD level knowledge in his chosen area of expertise... the Spread/RPO offense.

In your idiotic opinion, I am sure that is so.

But in 17 days, the rubber (and melon) hits the road. And all those moronic narratives you and your cronies have been clinging to will explode.. Like watermelons hitting the asphalt - thrown off the roof of a 20-story building.

Sucks to be you!

That was his first year in the SEC. What has the Gus Bus done since then?

2014 8–5 4–4
2015 7–6 2–6
2016 8–5 5–3
2017 10–47–1
2018 8–5 3–5

Let’s not act like if he had lost to Les in 2016 he would have been the one fired the next day.

Even tho CORCH o has beaten Gus back to back. Gus has won some form of hardware every 4 years dating back to 2010 with chizik last I checked. We want hardware. The head to heads and double digit wins are great but we need hardware. It’s time. He was hired to win hardware immediately once miles fell off.
